Tom Cotton, Conservatives To Meet Donald Trump In Washington

Trump called for an outright ban on Muslims entering the country, which Tom Cotton – a conservative Republican senator – said was wrong, according to POLITICO.

“On Tuesday, Cotton told radio host Bill Bennett that he would not support Trump’s proposal but added that, ‘at the same time we shouldn’t allow political correctness to get in the way of recognizing that there are a large number of radical Muslims around the world who would like to come to the United States and attack Americans.’

“Asked whether that means greater outreach in the Muslim community is needed, Cotton said, ‘of course.’

“‘We need to not just encourage Muslims around the world to try and lead a reform movement within Islam that rejects the Brotherhood, ISIS, Al Qaeda viewpoint, but we also need to highlight it when they do so,’ he said, pointing to the United Arab Emirates and Egypt as positive examples.”

POLITICO reports the meeting will take place before Trump’s scheduled speech and meet and greet to a large pro-Israel conference taking place in the nation’s capital this week.

“A source close to Cotton, a first term Republican known for his hawkish foreign policy views, said that Cotton’s attendance did not signal an outright endorsement, but rather that he was interested in hearing what the Republican front runner has to say,” the news outlet reported.

Interesting Cotton wants to hear what Trump has to say, particularly since Cotton has repeatedly attacked Trump.

Nonetheless, even more interesting to me is that Cotton doesn't appear to be all that "conservative" relative to the hype about how "conservative" he's supposed to be if Cotton thinks the best way to deal with ISIS and radical Muslims that want to the destroy the U.S. is more "outreach".

More and spectacular fail coming to a city near you.

Read about "fail" in the latest report from France on the Paris shootings.

both make some sense if you don’t consider the extreme danger that the existing thousands of Muslim Islamics that Obama has already snuck into USA....represent for us and our children

what these fine gentlemen need to do is figure out a way to repatriate them back to the 57 countries they’ve already infiltrated or invaded and conquered

ASAP!!!!!

Anyone who believes they can believe a muslim is stupid. Meet Mr. Cotton.

And, Trump did not say ban all muslims. He said stop bringing them in until we can figure out what the hells going on. In other words, figure out how to vet them.

So, right up front Cotton shows he’s not only stupid, he’s a liar, too.

That's my recollection as well. Two weeks ago.

Very disappointing for a freshman conservative.

Seems they get absorbed by the Cartel in record time these days.

Yeah, it doesn’t take very long in most cases for the GOPe to co-opt the newbies. They have just too much “candy” in their “candy store.” Cotton needs to be a one term proposition.

It does NOT matter whether Cotton or other congressional leaders support a Muslim ban. Years ago Congress gave the Commander-in-Chief the power to exclude groups that HE determined would pose a danger if they were not excluded. That law is still in effect—Trump (or Cruz) would not have to go to Congress to seek authority to do this—no new legislation or “permission” is needed at all.

Religious reforms happen when they come from with in and they have a base to work from.

The mohammedans lack both of these necessary attributes.

What Trump needs to do is to come down FIRMLY in support of a truly conservative judge to take Scalia’s place. Someone as good as Garland but several notches to the right, at least on gun control. This would make the Senate look good on holding out against any Obama choice.
