Cruz is actually in a win-win position. He can be the nominee at a brokered convention if there are enough votes to deny Trump *or* he can team up with Trump and give Trump an unassailable lead - but at a price.

I hope he does the latter because if he does the former there’s almost no chance he will win the general election which is the real goal of any true Republican. If he does the latter, he’ll extract from Trump either a future cabinet position, a Supreme Court nomination or an Obama-Clinton style way of retiring his campaign debts.

El Rushbo’s point is that the media ignores Cruz except to denigrate him while focusing either on Trump or whichever RINO can stop Trump. For Cruz to be solidly in second speaks well of how he has done although I, personally, think he’s made some bad mistakes along the way and probably should have stuck to the original script of being BFFs with Trump.

If Rush does not go with the GOPe pick he won’t be able to brag about his social life. Seems like Hannity and Ingrahm and Savage may not give a cool one about social staus.

Apparently you have not been listening to Rush the past few months.

I most certainly have and he has been fair to the top three.

1. Trump is a neighbor whom he has played golf with. He loves Trump's ability to go off-script and get in the media's face and not get hurt by it. He has criticized Trump only when it comes to belittling Cruz and Rubio.

2. Cruz, he believes, is the most eloquent and consistent speaker of conservatism - a point to which I agree. I think Rush *wants* Cruz to win but he has criticized Cruz for some of his tactics while campaigning.

3. Trump also sees Rubio as someone who is a strong conservative but got talked into the Gang of 8 and has been unable to walk that back. I realize that is part of the reason some Trump and Cruz supporters hate Rubio but Rubio makes a good conservative presentation other than on immigration.

I think Rush has been very honest about strengths and warts of all three while trying to stay entertaining for his listeners.

One thing i wish all three had done more was attacked the Democrats. Your real audience is the American public and, before you win the election, you have to convince them that it isn't lollipops and roses like the media wants you to believe life under the Democrats is.

Missouri has 52 delegates. 40 have been allocated. Trump got 25, Cruz got 15. The remaining 12 will most likely be allocated when the Secretary of State certifies the election. Trump will get most, if not all.

Missouri is winner-take-most, not proportional. From the 538 blog: “From now on, even tiny Trump pluralities (like the one we’re seeing just barely in Missouri, barring some magical Cruz precincts) will net him enormous shares of delegates. Up until today, only 5 percent of all GOP delegates were awarded on a winner-take-all basis. Between tonight and the final primaries in June, 64 percent of GOP delegates will be allocated on a winner-take-all basis. That’s an enormous catalyst for Trump’s drive to 1,237.”

That’s what a lot of people are missing. It’s hard to get delegates when there are a lot of candidates and distribution is proportional. It is much easier to rack up delegates when there are fewer candidates and distribution is winner-take-all or winner-take-most.

I was an every day listener since 1991 until his Amnesty Boy fetish drove me away.

I’ve tried listening a couple of times recently, but he’s still either not understanding or complicit in the plans to deny the citizens the ability to retain the rule of law and their country by blocking them from electing a President who will enforce the laws and borders.
The goal of the RNC/GOP in every election since the last amnesty has been to produce the amnesty candidate that the Cheap Labor Express has paid for.
The open convention is their last chance to block the citizens.

I have heard him defend Trump. He tries to be fair, but we all have our biases and preferences. It’s just human nature.

Not a chance.
Not going to win the Primary.
He would get killed against Hillary or Bernie if, for instance Trump was hit by lightning.

It all went off the rails when he went full on ‘Church Lady’ and then hired Beck.

I like Cruz but Texas is NOT the rest of the USA.

Even if the GOPe holds it nose and selects Cruz as our nominee, he will not win the general election

I'm pretty sure this is the plan. Cruz is a sacrifice. They KNOW he can't win the general. The establishment is a whole lot better off with Hillary in the WH than they would be with Trump. The gravy train is on a collision course with the Trump train. Guess who wins.

Where was Rush on March 7, Sea Island?

Seriously. Was Rush there? Or even there on FaceTime with an interpreter? He sure got his talking points.

My heart is still half mast over Rush being a phony. It still hurts.

Maybe Rush should untie the other half of his brain to make the contest even.

Maybe Rush lied about that, too! Maybe he’s had both lobes untied this whole time!

I think Cruz could succeed in nominating Romney is what Rush is really saying. I am so disappointed in Rush. He needs to untie that arm behind his back.

“Don’t listen to his show anymore. Just not interested in the Rubio/Cruz bias.
I wonder if other feel the same and if his listenership has dropped off?”

It has been a good 3 months since I have tuned in. Been listening since 1990 and bought his first book, ties and Rush tea. I have only followed along in the Rush thread and nothing in there says I have missed a damn thing.

I don’t know if Cruz can win, but I think Rush is smart enough to figure out that Trump cannot.

If it is Clinton vs. Trump, Trump will win in a landslide. A huge landslide! I cannot remember an election Rush has ever been right on.

I have never liked Hannity all that much, haven't watched him for the past fifteen years. I never disliked him, just found him to be a bit formulaic.

I have to say, as far as an honest broker, his Fox shows have been as neutral as you can be, and have been excellent to watch. He's one of the few radio bigs that didn't join the Cruz campaign. It's not that he dislikes Cruz, he just hasn't joined them and has been genuinely neutral. He's not anti Trump, nor is he anti Cruz, he hasn't taken the bait.

Rush really lost it about a month ago, went all Cruz spin on his show. I thought he would walk it back, and am very disappointed he hasn't. I stopped listening about two weeks ago, just couldn't handle his selling out the way he has.

Who the hell are you?

My comment was to mmichaels1970 and you answer?

Anyway I'll respond to you since you are of the same ilk as mmichaels1970.

Taking your points one at a time:

I most certainly have (been listening) and he has been fair to the top three.

Really? Do you trust FReepers? Well why don't you take yourself to our archives and read the daily Rush thread over the past 3/4 months or at least since the primaries heated up. There you will find, I'll bet, 90% of the Freepers who post disagreeing with your assertion of fairness and they ARE daily listeners. Most want to rip Rush a new a**hole as he has exposed himself as a shill for the GOPe.

1. Trump is a neighbor whom he has played golf with. He loves Trump's ability to go off-script and get in the media's face and not get hurt by it. He has criticized Trump only when it comes to belittling Cruz and Rubio.

Don't know about the golf thing as it is not germaine here, but he certainly IGNORES all of Trump's primary successes and endorsements. Barely gets mentioned during his 3 HOUR show while he focuses on how Cruz and Rubio are the best representative of our conservative cause.

2. Cruz, he believes, is the most eloquent and consistent speaker of conservatism - a point to which I agree.

I agree with you on this point.

I think Rush *wants* Cruz to win but he has criticized Cruz for some of his tactics while campaigning.

How would you conclude Rush "wants" Cruz to win? Didn't you say Rush was "fair" to all three? If he was "fair" to all three than no favoritism would be apparent, would it? If you have children than you know of what I speak.

3. Trump also sees Rubio as someone who is a strong conservative but got talked into the Gang of 8 and has been unable to walk that back.

Care to document that? How anybody who is a "strong conservative" can get "talked into the Gang of 8" is beyond me. Someone with "strong conservative" values would never be seen anywhere near the other 7 members of the Gang of 8. Rubio exposed his core belief system here and it ain't pretty. It is kind of like catching your wife cheating and she swears she never do it again. You could never trust her again. Same with Rubio.

I realize that is part of the reason some Trump and Cruz supporters hate Rubio ....

I do not "hate" any of these candidates and I doubt many of our posters "hate" any of the candidates. They simply look at their resumes and decide yea or nay.

... but Rubio makes a good conservative presentation other than on immigration.

Rubio makes a good "presentation"??? What the hell is that? He is a good public speaker??? So is Obama.

But what is in Rubio's resume? Absolutely NOTHING!! NOTHING! Am I wrong? If you think so, show me. Tell me of Rubio's accomplishments that espouse conservatism while in the US Senate? The only thing he has done in the US Senate is set a record for absenteeism while abandoning his role of representing the people of Florida.

So Rubio, in Rush's eyes, is a full-throated conservative in the mold of Ronald Reagan. Yeah right Rush. And what's that you are smoking?.

We’ll see. I think it may be a landslide in the other way. Trump is popular among union workers but they aren’t going to be enough.

There are two sides of the political spectrum totally pissed off at the political establishment. Sanders is getting one of those sides, the left. I believe that many of those Sanders voters will end up supporting Trump. These people are not all that ideologically connected. They are just pissed off. Clinton is the establishment and I doubt she can capture those votes. I saw a poll where the military supports Trump first and Sanders second. That poll got me to thinking of this scenario.

I am not sure that Trump and Sanders are that far apart ideologically. The difference between them is largely rhetorical I think.
