At the last check prior to going in the OR for hernia surgery a nurse read my wrist band, looked at me kinda funny and said “honey do you know your fixin to have a hysterectomy?”
But this is probably worse.
A vasectomy is typically done with local anesthesia (unless things have changed drastically in the past few decades).
I recently had a minor surgical procedure. The nurse and doctor checked my armband name, their procedure notes and then asked me what my procedure is I told them what the procedure would be. The nurse, doctor and anethiseologist said agree agree agree and the then it was lights out
That one minute would have preferred what happened to the above patient.
At least the vasectomy was free.
But here, medical personnel are held accountable......over there not so much.
Next time everything below gets taken, so watch the complaints!
But he wasn’t scheduled for a vasectomy. He was scheduled for a procedure that would remove scar tissue, I am assuming from his nether regions as the Dr was a urologist.
groan...
I think I will show this article to people who think I am crazy for writing, "Not this one" on the parts that I do not want operated on before going under the knife.
Sure I may look like the girl from "Blindspot for a few days...
...mistake?
“not confirming the patient’s name’ happened to me once at a military hospital. When I became angry after waiting hours to be seen, they found my records in the “already seen” group.
Seems sensible to me.
“111 (911 over there)”
Actually, I believe it is 999 over there. . . .
Actually, foreign medical docs do not have to attend US medical school to be licensed. They pass a battery of tests and that is it.. .sadly, no to measure their personal skills.

REALLY? In the 90’s, I worked in a lab with a Doc from Sri Lanka and he was applying to med schools here so he could work as a doctor. Wow. That is frightening.
Call 111 if:
you need medical help fast but it's not a 999 emergency
you think you need to go to A&E or need another NHS urgent care service
you don't know who to call or you don't have a GP to call
you need health information or reassurance about what to do next
You're right.....it is not as urgent as 999. But there was a recent article about the operators ‘slow-walking’ those who called 111. Especially those who were aged or really did have a 999 type emergency. I will try to find the article.
