Losing Ohio Improves Trump’s Chances to Win the Nomination
American Prospect ^ | Mar 14 2014 | Sam Wang

Summary: Keeping John Kasich in the race divides the anti-Trump vote.

Two months ago, based on a computer model I developed of the Republican delegate race, I wrote in The American Prospect that the GOP’s nomination rules tilted the playing field to Donald Trump’s advantage. For Trump’s opponents, the time window for counteracting many of those advantages and winning a first-ballot nomination has passed. Now the campaign enters a new phase, as Trump’s rivals try to deny him a majority of pledged delegates going into the convention. Simulating the remaining contests based on current polling data, my model picks up an unexpected wrinkle: Trump’s strongest position comes if he loses the primary in Ohio on Tuesday.

Time for cruz to get out, he has no path to victory. This race is between kasich and Trump.

I’ve heard this theory three times today, still don’t believe it.

It just means status quo. Kasich had to go and blow it by going all socialist. The guy is a pushover on the world stage. Had he tightened up a bit he would have been a top contender for Trumps VP pick.

I think Cruz’ speech after Chicago makes all of this a non issue.

it changed my vote.

Trump will get the 51 percent of delegates and that will be that.

or there will be HELL to pay if the delegates vote differently.

Losing Ohio Improves Trump’s Chances to Win the Nomination

With that speech by Kasich, I'd certainly hope so...

Time for cruz to get out, he has no path to victory.

After tonight, I'll bet that cruz is on the way to the Florida swamps to catch frogs with jeb.

Now that Micro Rubio dropped out, does his delegates go to Ksuck?

That would give Ksuck 292. Unless there is a sizable enough lead, the GOPe might call for a brokered convention to prevent either Cruz or Trump.

They are obligated to vote for Kasich on the first vote. After that, they go for whoever they want/whoever they are told to go for. Kasich can’t just give them to Rubio, at least not officially/directly.

I've also modeled possible delegate scenarios and I agree that Trump was better off losing Ohio, since that keeps Kasich in the race. Trump would have also been better off losing Florida and keeping Rubio in the race.

Cruz is stronger with Rubio out of the race, but is unlikely to pass Trump in the delegate count unless Kasich gets out soon. At this point, it's highly likely there will be a contested convention with Trump having a plurality of delegates, but Cruz being not far behind.

I’m not there, but Levin like Beck has lost his mind concerning the Trump phenomenon.
