Last week, the FDA announced it would investigate the use of manure and other biological matter.
Manure is animal poop. Rich in nutrients, it's been used by farmers as fertilizer for thousands of years.
But the agency is skeptical of the safety of the practice.
"The FDA is planning to conduct a risk assessment to determine how much consumer health is put at risk by the use of raw manure as fertilizer in growing crops covered by the final [Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)] Produce Safety rule, and what can be done to help prevent people from getting sick," the agency detailed. "Before starting the assessment, the agency wants the help of stakeholders in the produce industry, the animal agriculture industry, academia and members of the public in developing the model for this work."

The government cannot be bothered with protecting our borders, or restricting the influx of potential terrorists from the Middle East, but will try to “protect” us from proven agricultural practices.
Hurry, President Trump!
What a load of shit.
I was wondering if they were going to start monitoring Hillary’s campaign events?
Certainly lots of BS there.
Liberal Laws are for people that follow them ......
Manure can contain pathogens that contaminate the food. Unless it is processed properly to kill off pathogens, its use on food crops is unsafe.
On the surface, this seems more a USDA matter than FDA.
If they want to crack down on all types of sh#t they should start at the WhiteHut, Congress, RNC, DNC, USSC.
These places are full of bullsh%t, horsesh%t, dogsh#t and various.
One thibg about manure that places it above politicians is it is actually useful and has been helping to feed people for thousands of years, unlike government workers and politicians
This is a load of crap!
Animal manure spread on the fields or worked into the topsoil is excellent fertilizer and certainly natural. I suppose some company wants to make a fortune “treating” animal waste and reselling it to the farmers?
However the use of HUMAN manure does have dangers.
A food. Jug ears and his political ilk have eaten boatloads of the stuff.
If the FDA wants to regulate human manure, I suggest they go to Korea.
Manure is a bane against the sh!t industry of politics. It HAS to be regulated to ensure the content of bullsh!t, horsesh!t and dog squeeze are in their correct proportions according to the prime directive “All Liberal Sh!t is Organic and Unassailable; Sh!t contrary to that sentiment is that dreaded MANURE that is responsible for the dreaded Global Climate Change.”
This is simply another corrupt means to outsource an American industry to Central America and enrich agricultural investors there. Lloyd Bensten left Treasury to lead a group of investors and cash in on it. Mexicans can use all the poop they want. Of course they have to drive the farmers down there off their land and then they wind up here, desperate and angry, ready to vote Democrat just as soon as the Donald makes "the good ones" legal.
It's a twofer!
Exactly and who controls the use of this overseas?
The fruit and vegetables that are shipped into our country is laden with human waste contaminates from South of the border and China.
Water does not wash most of these pathogens off. Cooking is the only way to kill them.
This is where the USDA should be focusing not on the mom and pop gardener and this is where this is headed. To shut down home gardening in support of Agenda 21.
The ultimate liberal fantasy. Tax living.
Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman
If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.
Don't ask me what I want it for
If you don't want to pay some more
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
And you're working for no one but me.
Correcto Mundo
The chicken poop I use in my garden is a helluva lot safer than anything coming out of D.C.
I'd go with a food.
They've been feeding us a lot manure for years...
NOW they are worried about the effects of manure on the environment?
Where have these people been? Certainly very few, if any, were ever raised in the country, or with some kind of pet around the house if they were urban or even suburban. It is not only cows and horses, but dogs, cats, and birds that drop excrement everywhere they go, and a major part of animal husbandry every day is collecting and disposing of fecal matter.
It can be composted, yes, but that is generally a rather slow process, and requires some sort of facilities where it may be contained until the composting is completed (which totally destroys most pathogens, by the way). Or it may be aerated, which gets rid of most of the volatiles, especially moisture, without which the pathogens (and most other microbiota) quickly die or go form spores. Spreading thinly on areas exposed to the sunlight is DEADLY for these same pathogens, so surface land disposal is in fact a rather hygienic method of disposal. Methane release is not, and never was, the bugaboo of atmospheric “pollution” it has been made out to be. Lighter than the normal mix of atmospheric gases, it rises quickly in the atmosphere, and is destroyed by the ionization of oxygen by sunlight, which in turn produces carbon dioxide and water from the methane.
Most of the rest of animal excrement is composed of some form of fiber, and nitrogenous material from digestion of protein, both of which combine with the existing soil structure to create a condition known as “tilth”, the effective separation of the mineral proportion of soil by the introduction of a non-crystalline structure, which makes it much simpler to cultivate and plant desirable crops. By incorporating this animal waste into the upper layer of topsoil, the fertility of a plot of land is preserved for all time.
Naturally occurring bacterial life in the soil also goes far to control or even eliminate what few pathogens remain in the now composted, aerated and irradiated fecal matter, and so long as crops are not sprayed with liquid fecal matter shortly before harvest, the consumption of these crops is about as safe as anyone can guarantee anything in nature.
However the use of HUMAN manure does have dangers.

Correct. Perhaps they should focus their concerns on the food coming in from China where they do use raw human sewage on exported food to the U.S., i.e. fish, shrimp, vegetables.....
