Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus insisted Thursday night that the Republican Party would embrace its nominee, even if it was Donald Trump.
"This party is going to support the nominee, whoever it is, 100 percent," Priebus said to tepid applause on stage in Miami before the latest GOP debate. "No question about that."
Republicans have struggled for months on whether to embrace Trump, the controversial businessman leading the GOP race, or rally around one of his rivals.
Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) is the closest to knocking off Trump based on the number of accrued delegates, and has expressed openness for a contested convention in July.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) are also battling to win their home states on March 15, with a large number of delegates up for grabs in winner-take-all contests.
"Can you at least agree with me, without question, that any four of these gentlemen would be a world better thanHillary Clinton or a socialist in Bernie Sanders?" Priebus asked Thursday night before the candidates took to the stage in their latest debate.
I think he means the GOPe’s new boy ...Cruz
Yep. Wait until he finds out the shenanigans over the last few days won’t pay off for him.
All evidence to the contrary notwithstanding
Not likely...
Let’s hope not ...this is the final push by the GOPe and Cruz is what we all suspected this whole time ..he is the establishment’s “anti-establishment” candidate ...
Big difference tonight in the questions from the moderators. A civil discussion. Trump has done his homework on the subjects he has been quized on.
Kasich is a complete bore. Lol. Blah, Blah, Blah.
Dont really give a Damn what RP has to say.
Go Trump
I agree. Good call...
Is this what they decided as they left Georgia on their 54 private jets? Is Romney going to embrace as well?
Notice he said “nominee” not, “the person with the most delegates won”.
Depends on what the definition of “most” is.
Is the debate tonight or not? If it is, where on line can I watch it?
I’m betting the coffers have run dry over the Romney/McCain/Graham/Bush attempted destruction of Trump.
No money to defend State and Congressional seats.
It is clear that the RNC is going to pretend not to do anything to show bias towards the candidates while all the people who are part of the party establishment do everything they can to take Trump down. The RNC will have plausible deniability, even though it is undoubtedly coordinating.
Its on CNN. It started at 9:00. Very Good so far.
Kasich also lies.
He did not create 400,000 jobs.
He did not balance a budget. He got Federal money and he has taken the jacked up state taxes from his predecessor and refused to give it back to the people.
I think its going to be interesting. I would vote for Cruz. But I am done voting for the GOPe candidates. If they think they are attacking Trump and I am going to vote for a Rubio, Romney, Bush, McCain types, they are wrong. I am done voting republican if it comes from the bought and sold Republican crowd.
They can threaten to not vote for Trump. But they have guaranteed that several of us will never vote for them, now or ever.
Thanks. Can I watch online?
