Chaffetz wants to take guns away from 'Rambo' BLM, Forest Service agents

SALT LAKE CITY — Law enforcement agents with the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service are too "Rambo" to Rep. Jason Chaffetz's liking, so he wants to take away their guns and authority.

"These agents are more Rambo and less Andy Griffith than I would like," he told the Deseret News Tuesday.

Chafftez, R-Utah, said he plans to introduce a bill next week to strip those two agencies of their law enforcement authority and instead set up a system of block grants to states with a lot of federal lands within their borders to augment local law enforcement response.

"Let's not kid ourselves. The blood pressure is running high, especially in southern Utah, and I don't want anyone to get killed," Chaffetz said, adding his bill has the endorsement of his Utah colleagues in the House ...

~snip~

"I want to know what kind of arsenal they have. I'm met with blank stares," he said. "They're wholly unresponsive. They don't feel compelled to answer our letters."

He said the BLM abruptly canceled its contracts with local county sheriff's offices in Utah ...

Chaffetz said it makes more sense to have elected county sheriffs with public accountability in charge of law enforcement functions in their own geographic areas.

They shouldn’t have weapons or armor anyways.

They should be forced to rely on the good American land owners to defend them should the need arise. For they are appointed to serve, not to subjugate. The relationship should be of ally, not enemy.

The Dept. of Education has a SWAT team.

The Library of Congress has a SWAT team.

This is RIDICULOUS —it’s so far out-of-bounds, it’s like freakishly overgrown airsoft guys, or a fraternity on a bender.

We have given machine-guns to drunk Boy Scouts.

NO cop needs full-auto. NO cop needs a bayonet.

That the feds think the BLM needs weapons say something about what the feds think of Americans.

They need to be armed for their own personal protection, but they don’t need SWAT teams, armored vehicles & such.

Here is a link to a video showing multiple BLM officers failing to subdue one man. The man is eventually shot.

The real question is why the feds own all this land in the first place. Despite paying taxes, in many states, people are forced to buy access in the form of “adventure pass” or other such means to even enter the public lands. The BLM along with numerous other agencies, too legion to mention, should not exist. Chaffetz may have a good idea, but it is not radical enough. Abolish these agencies, sell the land and problem solved.

and then there is still that issue of the Obozo government buying up a couple of billion rounds of ammo. I assume it is for the government enforcers such as the BLM, IRS, EPA, etc. One should be curious as to where all of that ammo is now being stored and why the government needs that much ammo. The government is mum on those questions so it is reasonable to conclude this government is preparing to control the US citizens by force and most likely before the 2016 election.

...........Chaffetz is all in with the Establishment and has proved that in recent times. That said, he generally supports “real” conservatism so I like him.

But, I wish he would come out and address the underlying problem not this bandaid. The ROOT issue out west is unconstitutional ownership of the majority of the land in certain states. Chaffetz should introduce a bill that divests the Bureaucracies of the Federal Government of ALL authority BECAUSE the same bill would require the Feds to divest themselves of ALL land they own without Constitutional Authority to own it.

I don’t mind them having a sidearm and/or shotgun. They are often in remote locations and there are a lot of drug smugglers and such out there. But for more than just personal protection, they should be partnering with another police force with the equipment and training and rules of engagement for those situations.

Well, the 1968 Democrat convention didn’t work out too well for the cops or the public (Did work out ok for the communists) . So we should be able to agree that that was not a good way to go.

BLM is nothing but setting up a private military for that evil obama-—nothing but Brownshirts.
