Montgomery spoke with Channel 2 news about the attack. "I had just sat down to play my guitar near the ocean when I heard screams from down the road," he explained, nonchalantly. "He jumped on the bench yelling at me and trying to stab me so I grabbed my guitar and hit him over the head with it.
"He was so stunned and didn't know what to do with himself and then started running away."
Two police volunteers then shot and killed the terrorist.
Ed Dvir, from Philadelphia, read about Montgomery's quick reaction to an approaching terrorist and set up a GoFundMe account, explaining: "I Ed Dvir of Philadelphia will speak to Yishay to find out which guitars he wants and will purchase them on his behalf in America and will deliver them to him when I go to Israel."
In less than 24 hours, 213 people from around the world have contributed to the campaign. Some added short notes including "GUITAR HEROOOO!!!!!" and "Thank you for being awesome!"
Dvir also claims to have received an offer from "a rock star in NJ" to provide an autographed guitar, and is trying to get the rock band Tool to donate. Montgomery is a fan of Tool and was wearing their shirt at the time of the attack.

Creative use of a musical instrument.
Now if only he’d been carrying a .357...
They’re impossible to get good tone out of.
Too bad it wasn’t a Stratocaster.
Really? Maybe you ought to have yours tuned up...
I guess he doesn’t have it right now because police took it for evidence.
I’d think he’ll get it back, probably will have enough to get it all repaired, if it was mine I’d have it decorated with something that would commemorate the event. And keep on rockin’. (Since I play the piano that might be harder to sock a terrorist over the head with.)
...
That one guitar, felt good in his hands, didn’t take long, to understand
Just one guitar, slung way down low
Was a one way ticket, only one way to go
...
Carry an accordion for that special terrorist. If the polka rhythm doesn’t get him, it can be used as a club.
Stratocaster? These terrorist scum need to be hit by a Stratofortress ...
I got nothing but a hammer and a screwdriver that I keep handy. Are they easy to tune?
I don’t remember if it was a Telecaster or a Stratocaster, but I do remember that it wasn’t at all easy.
It required the perfect combination of the right powerchords and the precise angle from which to strike.
The guitar bled for about a week afterwards and the blood was ooh... dark and rich like wild berries.
Now, I have that song stuck in my head.
You’re welcome.
;’}
Did you share the blood with Ted Nugent?
Les Pauls are heavier, just don’t use a gold top.
