About 1,000 Democrats in Mahoning County so far have switched their party affiliation to Republican with election officials saying several did it to vote for Donald Trump, the GOP presidential front-runner. “We are seeing something this election cycle I’ve never seen before to this degree,” said board Chairman Mark Munroe, who’s also the county Republican chairman. “Every day I take phone calls or get voice messages from people saying they’ve been Democrats all their life and they’ve had it. They want to vote for Donald Trump. I’m surprised at the volume of inquiries we’re getting. It’s remarkable.”

The Cruz people, in their short-sighted and petty way of “reasoning,” will say that this is just so that Trump can be elected to lose, and that these people aren’t “really” switching out of any convictions.
On the other hand, I think it’s pretty obvious and apparent that we’re seeing a realignment take place. This makes sense, since we’re about due for one.

I would say that in the general, they’ll come back to their illogical, mentally ill, hypocritical senses and vote for the dem. Whoever it is.
Reagan democrats. Trump is obviously attracting them. Weak McCain and Romney didn’t...Cruz wouldn’t either.

Why didn’t Trump run as a Democrat, since so many of his fellow Dems would have supported him? Was he scared of Hillary? Instead he hijacks the weak-minded GOP, counting on the incredibly gullible Republicans to give him that high he said he got last Sat. when he narrowly won LA and KY. The Democrats can’t lose in this election.
Kasich will have trouble in Ohio with the blue collar voters. Senate Bill 5, aka Issue 2, is still very raw in Ohio. Firefighter, police and teacher unions, plus the other unions as well, are very unhappy with our Governor since the 2011 referendum. It is an open wound and not healing at all.

Democrats are crossing lines to the GOP and doing so because of Donald Trump.
In most cases, these will be voters who not only vote for Trump in the General Election, but will become lifelong Republicans.

FYI, many union blue collar workers are Republican in Ohio.

I live {Western PA} with the union demonRATS, go to clubs, play golf, go to Church, and know hundreds of them and many, many of them will vote for Trump, but if the pubbie party screws Trump at the convention, they will vote hildabutchbitch in a heartbeat. It is not even close.
I was at Volunteer Fire Department fund raiser over the week end and of the 12 people at our table, it was 8-4 Trump over hildabutchbitch, not a single one would consider Cruz, and it was 8-4 demonRAT over pubbies at the table.
The demonRATs that like Trump said it would only be him, not any other pubbie candidate.
Trump is the messenger and they are listening to his message, Wall, jobs, no illegals, build the military, all simplistic, all resonating with them.
They will vote for Donald Trump.
I’m from Ohio. I know this area.
Lorain County will also field heavy cross-over votes and will crawl over broken glass to vote for Trump.
Kasich is not popular outside of Columbus.
