Republicans May ‘Look at Alternatives’ if a ‘Disaster’ Candidate Like Trump Becomes Nomin

John Sununu, the former New Hampshire senator and John Kasich supporter, urged Republican voters to “choose the strongest nominee they can — someone who will win.” But he thinks Republicans may “look at alternatives” if “we have a nominee who is a disaster for the party.”

On Breitbart News Daily, Stephen K. Bannon asked Sununu what he thought about the potential for a third party candidate should Trump become the nominee. Sununu cautioned that if Hillary Clinton is not defeated, she would continue Obama’s agenda, and would be able to appoint a Supreme Court nominee.

“That is one of the reasons why people need to look at John Kasich because he will win. He’ll win Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire,” Sununu added, claiming that top contenders Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97% and real estate developer Donald Trump have “no chance” to win those states against Hillary Clinton.

“Whoever the nominee is, I think and I hope that Republicans support them, but what you’re talking about is a hypothetical where what happens if we have a Donald Trump who is running 10, 15 points behind HIllary Clinton,” Sununu said. “There’s been a lot of polling showing Trump is the weakest Republican we could put up.

“What Republicans will do, if we have a nominee who is a disaster for the party, a nominee who is trailing badly, are they going to look at alternatives? I can’t tell you,” he added.

“I want a Republican who is strong, who will generate broad support across the spectrum,” Sununu said of Ohio Governor John Kasich, who he is supporting.

Breitbart News Daily airs weekdays from 6 am to 9 am EST on SiriusXM Patriot 125.

a President who would enforce the laws and secure the borders

You know, their control of the narrative has been masterful.

They have most people talking about "compromises" to "solve the problem" of alien invaders and their spawn, when previous Congresses and Presidents HAVE solved the problem by passing legislation - not Gang of 8 "agreements" and not clauses buried in Omnibus bills, but straight up clear and unambiguous laws.

OUR LAWS, THEY ARE, GODDAMMIT!!!

All that is needed is for the President to enforce the laws. He has more than enough tools at his hand to accomplish his duty - maybe some of the SWAT teams in the Department of Education, the IRS, and the EPA can take on the rounding up with their AR-15s and armored vehicles.

No, I'm saying that since Reagan the GOPee has nominated candidates who fought conservatives but wouldn't say an unkind word about/to leftists.

I believe in the constitution and conservatism. So-called conservatives, not so much anymore...and the GOPee not at all. And I'm sure as h%ll not going to keep committing insanity by doing the same thing and expecting different results.

Clear enough for you?

So...how's that been working for you, coming up on 30 years?

Sure would be nice to find out now that we have two candidates that love the constitution. Carson and Cruz. Too bad this opportunity is being pissed away by a group of people who claim to be conservatives.

Hey, maybe they can get McCain to run again!

Is Dole still alive? I hear they may even be thinking of Romney out of sheer desperation.

What will be the first two words heard at the GOP headquarters the day after Trump wins the election?

Interesting in that he was GHWB’s Chief of Staff, and GHWB’s reelection was killed because of a 3rd party candidate. But I guess *that* was different.

This is turning out better than I hoped. We can force the GOPe out and retake the party without firing a metaphorical shot.

Yeah, what’s up with that? Neither one seems to be a very good candidate.

Former GHWB Chief of Staff dragged across the stage leaving streak.

The Governor John H. Sununu who was GHWB's chief of staff is the father of the Senator John E. Sununu mentioned in the article.

Why don’t you make a promise to the rest of us to leave with Whoopi racist when Trump wins. Your too good to let the people decide, and you call yourself a conservative.

‘Honestly, I would support this. Please let this happen”

Of course you would, because you are a gullible establishment stooge. You are a proud supporter of the GOPe.

Listen to me and listen carefully. I will NEVER vote for amnesty, establishment tools Rubio, Kasich or Romney. Not under any circumstances.

Capiche?

We believe you truly we do because its people like you they gave us his second term of Barack Obama. Now you can easily say he’s no worse than mittens would have been but that course is counterfactual.

Listen genius, I held my nose and shamefully voted for Mittens. Every Presidential Election that I’ve ever voted in, I’ve had to hold my nose. NO MORE!!!

I’m voting Cruz but will support Trump if he wins the general. If you don’t like it, too bad. Deal with it.

No more establishment weasels such as Mark Zuckerburg’s little poodle, Rubio. I assume that you’re a fan of Zuckerburg?

Then we are in common concert, as I have said multiple times I’ll vote against Hillary I will vote tomorrow morning for Ted Cruz and hope mightily that people long line will realize that Donald J Trump is no friend to a republican form of government but the attitude of let it all burn I just won’t vote is why we end up with Obama the second time.
