Melissa Harris-Perry Walks Away From MSNBC Show

Melissa Harris-Perry may be too progressive for the new MSNBC.

The anchor, who has hosted a weekend program on the NBCUniversal-owned cable-news outlet since 2012, said she will not host her show this weekend in what appears to be a significant difference of opinion regarding her role at the network, which has in recent months focused more intently on breaking-news coverage and politics in recent months.

“Here is the reality: Our show was taken — without comment or discussion or notice — in the midst of an election season,” Harris-Perry wrote in a note that was reported previously by the New York Times, then posted on Medium. “After four years of building an audience, developing a brand, and developing trust with our viewers, we were effectively and utterly silenced. Now, MSNBC would like me to appear for four inconsequential hours to read news that they deem relevant without returning to our team any of the editorial control and authority that makes MHP Show distinctive.”

This has been my shocking experience, too. I watched the South Carolina returns on MSNBC because they included info about delegate counts which Fox omitted and had better graphics with more explanation, too. Talent was upbeat and relaxed (of course it wasn’t their fight). Fox was not only unwatchable because of the nasty comments and dour faces, but they were lacking in informational content to boot.

“Like I mentioned in another thread about this story, programs like “Captain Kangaroo” and “The Electric Company” and even “The Banana Splits” that I watched as a kid back in the 1970s were (and probably still are) more worth watching than the drivel that MSNBC has churned out over the years.”

Definitely, those were much better. I think Morgan Freeman(pre-racist days)and Rita Moreno were on there.

I like that! You’ve been there and done that ain’t ya? I especially like #4, that usually is when Trump’s trademark phrase is heard.

This broad, as if anyone watched her show in the first place, will probably not enjoy doing the weekend news in Hoboken.

I believe she was going deaf...you know, toxic shock syndrome?

Should have left those tampons alone.

In case you haven’t heard about it, there are three guys on MSNBC that are doing a SHOWTIME documentary series called “The Circus: Inside the Greatest Political Show on Earth”. It’s the stuff political junkies like me love and has that “relaxed” feeling instead of the crazy Fox-type programming.

Bet she was heartbroken over the workers replaced by foreigners at Disney. Perhaps Trump can get her job back when he brings the other jobs back from overseas.

Meanwhile, maybe they have some openings down south on Mexican TV

Now she's free to accept all those Playtex ear tampoon modeling job offers she's had to turn down......... what with having to develop her 'brand' for all 35 viewers she used to have.
