The former president remains popular among Republicans.

During his appearances on various Sunday morning political shows, Donald Trump backtracked on some comments he made about former president George W. Bush during the Republican debate the previous night.

Trump, as he has done multiple times throughout this presidential race, invoked the Iraq War as a way to criticize Jeb Bush for his brother’s actions. “The World Trade Center came down during your brother’s reign, remember that,” Trump told Jeb, eliciting boos from the audience. Then regarding former president Bush starting the unpopular Iraq war, he said, “They lied. They said there were weapons of mass destruction and there were none. And they knew there were none.”

The Washington Post reports that in a 2008 interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Trump said that Nancy Pelosi, who was Speaker of the House at the time, should have pushed for Bush’s impeachment because of his management of the Iraq war. When asked why, Trump replied, for “[getting] us into the war with lies,” a sentiment he repeated on Saturday night. However, the next morning during an appearance on ABC’s This Week, he said, “I don’t even think about it.”

Though he previously depicted Bush’s actions as deliberate, on Sunday morning he distanced himself from those statements. On NBC’s Meet the Press, Trump backed away from his past impeachment calls, saying, “It may not have been impeachable because it was a mistake.”

The former president remains popular among Republicans. During their own Sunday morning interviews, Trump’s fellow candidates expressed their frustration with the businessman’s views. On ABC’s This Week, Ted Cruz accused him of being leftist, while Marco Rubio said it’s “disturbing” that Trump continues to say Bush lied to invade Iraq.

He has a technique of going half over the edge then manages to pull back before he goes into the chasm.

“He has a technique of going half over the edge then manages to pull back before he goes into the chasm.”

Especially when millions are watching and trying to choose a candidate but almost no one is watching the pullback. He’s got all the truthers charged up, that’s for sure.

Post a direct quote.

The article is full of garbled characters and is unreadable. Probably a pile of BS anyway.

After Cruz’s commercial fiasco....he is done.

It is down to Trump and Rubio. I am going with Trump always......Maybe he thought he went overboard and soften the message but still believes it and says it. I would have to actually hear what he said to see how it turned out before I care about this. And I am not going to bother watching tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

Trump himself has already addressed this several times today including at an hour long press conference this afternoon.

Cruz ads are already being taken down all over South Carolina as a result.

Nope, this time he went over. I think it was the Red Pink background on stage that made him go over the code pink edge. Funny, I was just moving toward him again.

But when only Republicans are asked, the picture is starkly different: 77 percent of members of his own party give the former president a favorable rating, making him the most popular Republican in the survey.

Bloomberg Politics national poll taken in November.

You may be making more of an observation about FR than the Republican Party, but I was correct and you were dead wrong.

Hah, that was a great commercial. In 2016 who cares if a porn star was in it?

Oh, really? Was he lying in the debate or this morning?
The article didn’t say.

I was talking about the one pulled today. I didn’t care much about the porn girl. Today’s pull was HORRIBLE for Cruz......the nastiest to date.

i’ll say it. i dont think wmds had any reason to do with us going in. it’s absurd. a dozen countries off the top of your head have more and worse WMDs than Iraq.

he may have thought it was the easiest country in the region to establish a stronghold, but he even #####ed that up too by sending in way too few troops, not securing the borders, which should have been a first!!, not paying the half million man army 50 lousy bucks a month, creating a de facto half million man insurgency, not hitting Iran hard when they did interfere, and not realizing that when you go into a country under the guise of freeing it from a madman, you can’t execute 20 people as a statement for killing one of our soldiers.

it was a cluster@@@@ like none other.
