Cruz willing to Filibuster SCOTUS appointee

I have just read this and personally I think that if President Obama selects someone and Cruz does go and filibusters it would be the best thing to happen to his campaign. For instance Obama nominates Eric Holder, and Cruz leaves the campaign trail and heads to Washington to block it; then his campaign would be able to paint the picture of his being willing to potentially lose the primary for the sake of saving the country from Obama. Some of Ted's biggest wins have been standing up to the Cartel in Washington and saying no.

That's my humble opinion was curious about others?

No filibuster is required. They just need to remain in session. Then “Bork” whoever jug ears nominates. That took a year.

At least someone is willing to raise the Conservative banner while being derided by McConnell, McCain, Graham, et al.

It’s pretty sad if he is the only republican senator willing to do it. But then that is why the rest of the senate doesn’t like him.

Why would he need to?

Don’t bring it up for a vote.

Yes it is. I am just thinking aloud about the optics of how that could effect the Presidential Race.

If it’s Sri Srinivasan, Cruz already voted YES for him once.

“His Senate confirmation hearing on April 10, 2013 was uneventful.[17] His nomination was reported to the floor of the Senate on May 16, 2013, by a unanimous vote of 18 ayes to 0 nays. A final vote on his nomination took place on May 23, 2013, where he was confirmed 97–0.”

Too bad he didn’t do that for the Omnibus spending monstrosity that funded Planned Parenthood and Syrian refugees among every other Obama agenda item.

Wrong grandstand?

That would have shown leadership and courage, but Christmas break and campaigning were more important.

I wonder what he would do if Obama nominated him? He said he would filibuster any nominee.

Will you read Green Eggs and Ham again....Pleeeeeez.

We don't need a stupid filibuster taking up every ones time.

Just don't go into recess. Only a few have to be there to prevent a recess appointment.

I can’t believe that he would be the only one to stop this. I fully expect Linda Graham and McCain to block a filibuster, but not more than a few GOP members. If so, were sunk.

I also agree, don’t bring it up for a vote. However we have Mcconnel and others who will cave at a moments notice. Toomey is the only Senator in PA that could be influenced, does anybody know about VA. I switched Voter Reg to Va while I am in school to vote in the Primary, since PA doesn’t allow absentee in Primary races

Good start. There are other things they can do to stop Obama. They need to use every tool at their disposal.

If I were advising him I would say to still filibuster, because it is not so much who Obama appoints, as the fact that he should follow established precedent and let it go for the next president. That way the American people can vote on how they want the court to swing.

“Don’t bring it up for a vote.”

Do you think that Mitch McDonnell has that much fortitude to not bring Obama’s choice for a USSC spot up for a vote? If he does, I will be surprised because the RINO’S in the Senate still believe that if they are nice that the MSM and the democrats will ‘like’ them.

Recess appointment!

They’ll have to stay in session thru all their breaks until Jan 2017 to prevent Obama from making a recess appointment.
