The Republican establishment badly needs to thin the candidate herd. Like, now.

Since the Iowa caucuses ended Monday night, three Republican candidates have ended their presidential campaigns. The problem for establishment GOPers? None of that trio is named Jeb Bush, John Kasich or Chris Christie.

The thinning of the Republican field has occurred entirely outside of the "establishment" lane -- with Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum and Rand Paul all calling it quits. That's a very bad thing for an establishment badly in need of finding a unity candidate soon if they want to have any hope of unseating the two favorites -- Donald Trump and Ted Cruz -- as the race moves into March (and probably later).

The post is worried that time is running out on getting an "electable," that is "beatable" republican.

Rubio is their last hope.

I’m for the rest who are still in to stay in.
Less chance of a Cheap Labor Express candidate winning.

Headline makes it sound like they want Christie to drop out.

Rubio was a Tea Party favorite, how is he now “establishment”?

Is the Tea Party that idiotic?

Establishment apparently now means anyone ever elected to office.

Pushing others to get out only helps Blondie (Rubio).

Cruz should drop out so that Trump can kick Rubio’s butt.

It’s a somewhat free country.

Let them run.

Of course if a Conservative spoke of the need for the Democrats to “thin the herd,” can you imagine the caterwauling by the politically correct crowd?

Appreciate you scanning the lib press so we conservatives don't have to.

What advice does Huffpo have to share, Cotton?

I wouldn’t say this is bad news for GOPe: the hanging-in-there establishment candidates will be passing their delegates on to the designated golden boy.

As I understand it, anyway.

Rubio was a Tea Party favorite, how is he now "establishment"?

Yeah, before he joined the Gang of 8 and became Chuck Schumer's BFF. Are you not familiar with that history?

The whole point of the article is to set it up for Rubio to be nominated. Against the stiffs the Soviets...I mean democrats...are running, he would probably win.

I agree that they want the Cheap Labor Express guy.

Rubio was a Tea Party favorite, how is he now “establishment”?

Once he was elected he stopped having anything to do with the Tea Party. Also, he joined the McCain - Schumer wing of the GOPe.

The Tea Party helped get him into the Senate, he thanked them by scheming with Schumer, McCain, Flake and the rest of The Gang of Eight against the citizens and the rule of law.
He sold his soul to The Cheap Labor Express.

Never give more knives to backstabbers

People have the right (or even obligation) to change their minds. Rubio is right on most of the other stuff and is articulate and good looking.

There is no justification in most of these attacks upon him. Nor those on Cruz or Trump. ALL would be superior to the nominee of The Party of Treason.

We need to attack the Left not each other.

It's why they are using the divide and conquer with Cruz and Trump.

You combine Trump and Cruz it's NO CONTEST.

They have to negotiate a cease fire, and aim towards the real enemy.... the Establishment.

That was then now is now. Rubio is young and thought he was doing good for the nation.

As a Trump guy, no one is more anti ILLEGALISM than I but it has to be faced that there is not going to be a mass deportation under any president.

Just the logistics of such a course rules it out so one has to look to practical actions which are actually possible.
