Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump unleashed a slew of Twitter attacks on Iowa evangelical leader Bob Vander Plaats Sunday morning, the second time he has done so in less than a week.
Trump says that Vander Plaats, head of the Iowa-based Family Leader, asked him to stay in his hotels for free and also requested he speak at an event while seeking $100,000 for himself.
He made the same statements on Tuesday in a similar Twitter storm. At that time, Vander Plaats said he and his family stayed for free in Trump's hotels because Trump insisted he do so in hopes of getting his endorsement. When Vander Plaats instead backed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Trump attacked, Vander Plaats said.
As to Trump's claim that Vander Plaats sought $100,000 for himself, the Des Moines Register's chief political reporter Jennifer Jacobs contacted the group to whom Trump spoke.
The paper found that Trump was paid $100,000 to speak at Iowa's Land Investment Expo a year ago, directly contradicting Trump’s claim.
While the speech was Vander Plaats' idea, he was paid nothing, records showed.
There was no indication why Trump chose Sunday morning to reignite his Vander Plaats attacks, but caucusing is set for the Hawkeye State Monday night. Trump is in the lead in the latest polls, but Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is nipping at his heels.
Vander Plaats also replied to Trump on Sunday, saying his endorsement can't be bought.

I figured out his appeal long ago. It is the same appeal as Gov Arnold of Cali and Jesse Ventura in Minn had. Celebrity....Trump’s fans are like rock band groupies. They will let him say and do any repulsive thing he wants, and they still are dying to get f**ked by him.
“Vander Plaats has publicly stated that he and his family said they would pay their bill. Boy, I bet he regrets being a guest of Trump.”
And what if the Devil doesn’t wish to sell him back his soul?
“Have you noticed how Trumpeteers have started parsing Trump’s statements, aka Clinton.”
They go beyond parsing. It is like watching OJ Simpson’s lawyers working on their strategy online...
Hopefully, Trump is motivating actual Christians to show up on Monday night.

Certainly aren’t any Fruits of the Spirit in Trumps life. I don’t know how any Bible-believing Christian can vote for him.

Well, if he is good enough for Vander Plaats to accept hospitality from, he must be a pretty good guy, right?
AMEN...think long and hard before you vote tomorrow IOWA!!!! Trump will say ANYTHING to get elected even flaunt his mother's Bible around.
If I was Vander Platts, I would figure out a way to get Trump his money and tell him to shove it. Trump gives a “gift” and then acts like the Devil when he doesn’t get his way from the recipient. He is mean man — and the people on this website who support him won’t, hopefully, have to live with his evil actions.
It is amazing that so many here are ready to jump all over Plaat, but it was Trump that provided the ‘favors’ and the expectation of quid qo pro for the highly prized presidential endorsement.
Yet, no one seems upset about Trump’s sleazy behavior to garner favor with Evangelicals. Wasn’t it Satan that offered Jesus the whole world if he only....followed him instead?

Trump gets furious and vindictive when he can’t buy someone. That is the reality.
Oh no, let’s not dodge the question. Is Trump — a serial adulterer, a strip club owner, a supporter of infanticide — a man of high character? That’s the question, but I bet Vander Plaats regrets ever meeting/talking to Trump.

I am a business owner and I get calls from non-profits ALL the time asking for discounts and/or deals.
This is very normal.
Trump is a malignant narcissist. When he doesn’t get his way or the approval of someone, it’s always that the other person is stupid, because how could any reasonable person not love Trump.
Never thought this country would be led by a more bigger narcissistic man than Obama, but Trump would out-do even Obama.
