I never understood how drudge could be so popular. I get the feeling all his traffic are fake
A lot of the “traffic” is probably automatic reloads. I hate those when trying to read the page.
I actually look at it two or three times a day for breaking BIG news. I’ve got it where it loads up very quickly now as opposed to going to somewhere like Fox or CNN etc.
It’s just a good collection of links and recent goings on that eventually get splashed everywhere.
Drudge invented the idea of the internet news aggregate.
Not a huge fan of the website but I sure wish he would bring back the radio show
Here is a great aggregate
http://www.acsalaska.net/~lwh/news.htm
That stuff stopped when I enabled IE ad-track blocking as an add-on function.
HOORAY Drudge
Citizen journalism BUMP!
I hate that
Cant take a pee without the page reloading LOL
If I’m in the mood to check out the top news, I go to Drudge or FR.
In that order.
ONE MAN, a former gift shop clerk.
I really, really hope this bugs the living hell out of them.
One year at the Columbia School of Journalism costs $85,000 and Drudge is EATING THEIR LUNCH..!
Drudgereport and Freerepublic are my first stops everyday for the last 10 years. Might not comment much, but always check out the news.
Why? It’s a great ad-limited, efficient place to get a take on what’s breaking and hot?
Seriously Drudge is very good at headline news
Even better than one man, he apparently always has an employee or two to share the burden.
Without Drudge, Rush and JimRob WHAT would we do..?
Our country would be LOST.
In high school Drudge was a loner Geek with few friends but just look at all that he has done.
I like Drudge and check if frequently. Been doing that since 2004 at least.
When you see the “cheesy” rotating red & blue police light, you know something big is happening. ;-)
Twitter has taken over as the real time news source. Even Drudge uses it to post stories before he can update his website.
Maoften find that his sole act of changing news headlines to his own words improve the story vastly. often it adds a funny or insightful dimension.
I also find that his periodic posting of photos is highly meaningful and often has hidden meaning or makes for a double entendre.
sometimes he will post a photo for which there seems to be no story and then in one or two days there is a major story that makes the original photo much more meaningful.
In the early days of freeRepublic Matt was responsible for recruiting maybe 1/4 or one third of our total membership simply by giving one one tiny link to us.
In a couple cases I believe that we have influenced Matts reporting but it is unquestionable that he has had a huge impact on Free Republic.
Not many people realize that Matt appeared in person at the March for Justice a long time ago and he met many of our members.
I feel certain he drops in here from time to time.
Drudge made when Newsweek wouldn’t post Clinton and Monica Lewinsky scandal
