The Cruz campaign confirmed the mailers had originated from the campaign and said there was nothing inappropriate about the materials.
"These mailers are common practice to increase voter turnout," said Matt Schultz, the campaign's Iowa state chairman and a former Iowa secretary of state

At this point it seems to me they admitted it, they disavowed it, and now are admitting it again. Now they are defending it as well. Yikes.
I dismissed the term “total disarray” the a day or two ago, but now I’m wondering if I wasn’t a bit premature with that.

You know as well as I that this is their MO, in nearly any situation that they guessed wrong on how the wind would blow.

The Cruz campaign is doubling down on this. Are they INSANE??
On another note, I just received an email from Heidi. In it she pleads that unless they receive $100,000 in campaign funds now, they can't fund their voluteers. Silly me...I thought funded volunteers would be paid employees.
These folks are tone deaf.

Cruz is more of a fighter than I gave him credit for. This Iowa Official is a dope - what other Spirits does this guy visit?
Any laws broken - no. Any rules broken - no. Ok, then shut up, you are supposed to be non-biased.

Cruz has dared to prick the ethanol bubble. Official Iowa will not abide by that. There's nothing else to see here.

"These mailers are common practice to increase voter turnout," said Matt Schultz, the campaign's Iowa state chairman and a former Iowa secretary of state. "Our mailer was modeled after the very successful 2014 mailers that the Republican Party of Iowa distributed to motivate Republican voters to vote, and which helped elect numerous Republican candidates during that cycle." Well, I wouldn't have done it. I think it's a dumb idea, and it could backfire. And I'm a Cruz supporter.

Cruz has dared to prick the ethanol bubble. Official Iowa will not abide by that. Yep. That was the moment the Governor declared war on Cruz.

OK, WHICH ENTITY paid for the mailer's development and distribution?
If it was a Super PAC, and his state Spokesman claimed the mailer...that's prima facie evidence to open a Federal collusion investigation.
Granted, this is not in evidence, but the question should be asked.
The NY Times picked this up. Wow.
This is what the SoS intended.

I suppose, but it would seem better not to do it. If you did it own up to it and use that fantastic reasoning you had to explain it. Don’t waffle more. It just causes you to look shifty, almost corrupt. Bad idea...

I stopped getting their begging emails after replying that times are hard since I lost my job to a H1B worker.

I can't believe this stuff works. I donated $25 to the campaign, really excited about a GRASS ROOTS run for the Presidency!
I wonder how many times that amount the Cruz campaign has spent trying to get more money out of me. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!

Violates the spirit and misrepresents. Not illegal, just not nice.Certainly not "Christ-like."

They also tried to blame it on a 19 year old political science major working for the campaign. What kind of idiots give a 19 year old authority to create, print and mail flyers in the name of their candidate? I see they’ve dropped that one too.
