An Iowa win might make the Trump train unstoppable

Ted Cruz and Donald Trump do agree on one thing--if Trump wins Iowa, he might be unstoppable on his way to winning the Republican presidential nomination.

And they are not alone.

A wide range of senior Republicans told POLITICO that if Trump wins Iowa, he'll more than likely be the nominee. One factor they repeatedly pointed to: An Iowa victory over Cruz would validate opinion polls showing him in command of the race. The Trump phenomenon would officially become a reality.

Mike McSherry, a longtime campaign consultant and former executive director of the Republican Governors' Association, said: "If Trump wins Iowa, I don't know how you'd stop him. All these guys are going to be chewing each other's throats out for second place."

A top official of a rival GOP campaign, speaking anonymously to avoid offending his candidate, said: "If Donald Trump wins Iowa, I think he has won--period. Ted Cruz is supposed to win Iowa. If Trump wins, he'll be on a trajectory to come out of the SEC primaries [March 1] with close to triple the delegates of anyone else."

One of the nation's best-known Republican strategists, speaking on condition of anonymity because of his close connections to the leaders of several of the campaigns, said: "Only Trump can stop himself. All his opponents can do is cause him to do things that make him less appealing."

For weeks, Trump has been telling his crowds here that he thinks a win in the Feb. 1 caucuses would enable him to "run the table."

Trump already is unstoppable. Cruz couldn't win 8 primaries to get nominated even if he was eligible.

I’d love to see Cruz on the Supreme Court.

Much has been made about Trump not having an on-the-ground organization in Iowa, while Cruz does. The result will be that Cruz NEEDS an Iowa win, in order to appear competitive.

Trump does not.

A Cruz win in Iowa means Cruz is still in the race. A Trump win in Iowa means that Trump has potentially unstoppable momentum.

First of all, a Trump win would prove the consultants and the media are worthless and not to be trusted.

Second, “republican” consultants speaking anonymously shows their “professional” opinions are simply bought and paid for and should never be taken seriously.

It was noted on FR that Trump has a rally in NH about now in New Hampshire. Wow. About 14 hours after the Iowa rally he’s up and running again NH. I’m sure his 757 helps him keep the pace and recover his energy.

Cruz totally missed the opportunity to join Trump at the veterans event and stick it to the establishment. He flubbed the “debate”. If had joined Trump he would have set himself apart as a solid #2. Now he may not even be second in Iowa. Sad.

Interestingly, Trump is said not to have a ground game in Iowa. With as poor of a ground game as he is supposed to have he pulled off a charity event in a matter of days to record crowds and he is now off the New Hampshire.

If you understand the scope of what Trump has done, you know he has to have a very seasoned organization that has to be substantial to pull off what Trump is doing.

Iowa will surprise everyone. Trump wins Iowa by at least 5-10%.

The (D)onald is losing or barely tied in most head-to-head polls against the (D)emocrat, whether it be Hillary or Bernie.

This is because people like myself, my wife, both my parents, my sister, her spouse, and my best friend simply won’t vote for that poser. So - sure - Trump might be an unstoppable train for the nomination, but it’ll be a runaway train ending in a fireball crash in the general.

So, keep supporting him. We’ll lose the election. Or, you can vote for someone who is doing BETTER in the head-to-heads like Cruz.

The people I mentioned will be GIVING our vote, in good conscious, to Cruz via write-in, if necessary. We’re tired of voting for the pick we don’t really believe in, whether it be Dole, McCain, or Romney.

You can argue all you want about the vote going to Hillary. I’m telling you right now: by supporting TRUMP in the primaries, you are the one giving your votes away to Hillary because so many of us find him so unpalatable, that we simply won’t vote for him.

So, if Cruz does better than Trump in head-to-heads NOW, who is really giving votes away, hm?

That would be good too. Actually, better, VP is kind of a waste as far as influence.

Wish Ted would call DT and make a truce.

Too late, Ted not only burned the bridge, he brought Beck in to take out the bridge concrete supports.

I would love to see Cruz on the Supreme Court.

Maybe decades from now. President Trump will not recommend him, and he could never get the $inate to confirm him.

Funny but irrelevant photo by an increasingly irrelevant poster for an increasingly irrelevant candidate.

However, when, he and his fellow scrum team post, they ping these threads and help keep them alive!

Hopefully, he and they will continue post/ping our threads and fire us up!
