Bush definitely presented himself better last night, but what he made very clear is how much he is in line with the usual Bush family policies. It finally occurred to me that his problem is not that he’s an evil person or even a particular policy, but that he’s a Bush and he automatically relies on the old tried and true Bush failed policies and behaviors. He’d probably even have the same (by now ancient) advisers.
We need a new approach to some of the old problems (black poverty and failure to integrate, the failure of certain immigrant groups to integrate, etc.), and some creative thinking about the newer problems (ISIS, getting rid of Obamacare and white male unemployment, for example). But Bush is hopelessly stuck in the past and would be completely incapable of dealing with anything himself and equally unable to stand up to the Dems with their tired old non-solutions.
Really shocking to note that a Bush has been President or VP for 20 of the last 36 years.
