AN OBSERVATION I MADE ON ANOTHER THREAD:

Ever notice how American institutions of all kinds have become less and less competent
since the advent of Affirmative Action, racial quotas, minority set-asides and the other
Politically Correct clap-trap the democrats (with the help of RINOs) have given us?

On our ship during a re-build of an engine we would put in new pistons. Occasionally sand would be left from the casting, and rarely often enough there was institutional knowledge to consider this remote possibility. However, by the time I came onboard there was an established oral history that cautioned the engineers to blow out the new pistons with the 125 lb steam.

Now that is a nice story I enjoy remembering, but it is probably irrelevant in this case. Sounds like a dumb a** mistake to me.

Everything’s fine as long as the Navy is “up to snuff” on its LGBTQRST protocols.

And with the ever increasing nannyhood comes a decrease in the can-do spirit of the troops too... goes right together.

God has been merciful. If we had to actually FIGHT this way, we would be worse than Keystone Kops.

Neither Trump nor Cruz would tolerate this, but especially Trump... I can hear the YOU’RE FIRED clear to the Pentagon!

Are you sure the girl isn’t a boy or vise versa. Transgender is the “in thing” now. The military in general have so many social issues to “train” about that getting the job done is secondary.

Why doesn’t the system shut itself down before it self-destructs for overheating? It is a brand new platform, and without a doubt loaded to the gills with every conceivable sensor... Why, oh Why does something like that happen? I think a $500 laptop will shut itself down to protect itself, but seriously, a multi-million dollar gearing system wont???????

I used to own ships

Their lube oil comes in huge tanks with 3-5 tonnes usually

Letting that run dry is unlikely

Sounds more like the oil didn’t get to the main engine

The “debris” is babbit from the bearings found in the duplex lube oil strainer. It will be costly and time consuming. It happened on the USS Guam. A hs pinion bearing wiped, and we replaced it while drifting in the Burmuda triangle for a few days. Years later, the Guam (LPH-9) became corral reef.

I got a “ride” once at little creek when I was at Indianhead ....... was amazed at the amount of firepower that RCB was capable of. Never saw it in angry mode but it was impressive.

BS Flag is at full mast on recent events. Someday.
