Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has a 14-point edge over Sen. Ted Cruz, his nearest rival, according to a new national poll.
Trump garners 34 percent support in the Fox News poll released Friday, with Cruz at 20 percent.
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) ranks third with 11 percent, followed by retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 8 percent. Former Forida Gov. Jeb Bush and Ohio Gov. John Kasich tie for fifth with 4 percent apiece.
The poll also found that Cruz and Trump are the most popular second choice for likely Republican primary voters. Cruz is the second choice for 22 percent, while Trump is for 13 percent.
The survey found that voters are unconcerned with questions about Cruz's eligibility for the presidency.
Only 10 percent say the fact that Cruz was born in Canada makes it less likely they'll vote for him, while 88 percent said it would not affect their choice.
And 61 percent say he is natural-born American, with 27 disagreeing.
Cruz and Trump are battling for a lead in the early-voting state of Iowa, just 10 days away from the caucuses.
While Trump has double-digit leads in most national polls, he is ahead of Cruz by just 2.6 percent in Iowa, according to a RealClearPolitics average of polls.
Problem is, whether Cruz is a natural born citizen is not decided by popular vote.
He may very well be. But the controversy is an actual legal issue which hurts Cruz.
Is the intellectually dishonest headline your doing?
The National Review issue that attacks Trump will only inspire his supporters. In fact, it may wind up being the final boost in Iowa that gives Donald the nomination.

National Reviewâs publication of the collective anti-Donald Trump missives from 22 self-appointed conservative potentates has caused quite a stir in Republican circles.
The nationwide responses range from, âWait, I thought National Review went out of business years ago,â to âEd Meese? Seriously?â
The Gang of 22 have officially become parodies of themselves. One would have to reach back to the days of Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew to lift an adequate quote to describe them.
âNattering nabobs of negativism,â âvicars of vacillation,â âpusillanimous pussyfooters,â âthe decadent few,â âideological eunuchs,â âthe effete corps of impudent snobs,â or âthe hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of historyâ - take your pick, because they all apply about equally well to each and every one of them.
So clueless is the Gang of 22 they canât even see how theyâve stumbled right into the narrative Trumpâs been communicating so successfully for months. Just like the elected officials from both parties, the Gang of 22 has been GREAT at complaining about stuff, year, after year, after year.
But getting anything accomplished? Not so much.
Many of the Gang of 22 have been hanging around and chattering for decades, and some are active cogs in the Conservative Entertainment Complex, deriving their income by pandering to conservative anger while offering no real solutions.
Donald Trump represents a threat to these ineffectual poohbahs in the same way he represents a threat to do-nothing public officials.
Jealousy is also seriously at work here. Trump is inspiring and exciting a broad spectrum of the country like no member of the Gang of 22 ever has, or ever will.
In just seven months of campaigning, Trump already has more Americans listening to a Republican message than the entire Gang of 22 could muster over decades. Trump understands that before you can advance the ball, you have to convince people to take time from their busy lives to listen. No one on the GOP side since Ronald Reagan has accomplished that like Trump.
No one else has come close, and certainly no one from that âeffete corps of impudent snobsâ to which the National Review thinks we should defer.
The Gang of 22 had their chance. Theyâve done a lot of bitching over the years, and it paid well for some.
But Americans care about results. They can plainly see that all of the empty talk from the Gang of 22 got us eight years of Barack Obama, and a loss in pretty much every conservative battle there was to lose.
At the same time when Americans look at Donald Trumpâs life they get a lot of assurance that here is finally a man who shares their focus on actually getting results. And Trump returns the respect by recognizing regular hard-working Americans are a lot smarter than any of the âideological eunuchsâ in all of their pontificating glory.
The âpusillanimous pussyfootersâ love to nitpick Trumpâs words, but what voters are looking for this year is competence and accomplishment. Donald Trump has an actual record of delivering both in spades.
The Gang of 22 is right to be terrified. A President who could get things done would expose them as the irrelevant creatures they truly are.
It canât happen fast enough.

Trump-Cruz 2016? If Cruz Isn't Qualified to Be Prez Then How Can He Be VP?
Fox Poll: Trump, Cruz top GOP race, few ‘birther’ concerns
The real headline not the bs addition:

Trump leads Cruz by 14 points in national poll
LOL, She is a big TDS sufferer.
It’s all there - designated and separated - and all TRUE.
it is the trump great showing in the polls that will keep cruz supporters home on caucus night...... why bother?
When you can’t argue the facts, pound the table.
Birth status will be an issue for the courts. Then we will see what impact it has.
Oh yes. Run to the courts. That’s the ticket.
That’s what I hear all the time on FR. /s
It’s what Trump does all the time. I’d hate to have his legal bills.
Did Cruz ever get his fans to pay for Walker’s failed campaign yet? I see he got your vote with that.
Or was that all talk?
You’re still pounding the table...

Trump said even if there is only a 2 percent chance that Cruz is intelligible, 2 percent is still too much to consider him for vp. Of course it is!
The poll was conducted by telephone with live interviewers January 18-21, 2016 among a random national sample of 1,009 registered voters (RV)It would be interesting to ask "If you knew or believed that Cruz was not qualified, would that make you less likely to vote for him as the Republican nominee?15. Ted Cruz was born to an American citizen mother, while the family was temporarily working and living in Canada. Does this make you less likely to vote for him as the Republican nominee?
[ASK GOP PRIMARY VOTERS, N=405]
Yes 10%
No 88%
Don't know 2%16. The U.S. Constitution requires that the president be a natural-born citizen. Knowing this, do you think Ted Cruz is eligible to be president of the United States, or not?
Yes 61%
No 27%
Don't know 11%
The poll is a good data point for how well the public has been fooled.
