As V.P. Cruz should pick the Supreme Court nominees. I don’t trust Trump. Will Trump let him? I doubt it.

I’ve thought that the GOPe could more easily accept Cruz because they know know to control him, just as they’ve done throughout his short Senate career. They can’t stop him from going to voters directly and raising money and building an organization, but even if he should become President, they know how to ringfence him. Even assuming the Republicans hold onto a majority in both houses of Congress, it’s two years til the midterms and historically the party in the WH has a hard time holding onto both houses. Once the Democrats get back in control of one house, Cruz is blocked.

Trump, on the other hand, is a wild card and they know he will control the agenda even if he doesn’t have a majority in Congress. For one thing, he will wheel and deal to get what he wants, and for another, he will embarass and humiliate them to the point they’ll soil themselves over losing their seat.

Saving for historical reference. I better print it, too.

You’re correct. Very few will read the article in its entirety, and that’s a shame. I’ve never read a better summation of what got us to where we are.

Given that Trump has finally come out and made HIS arguments that Cruz is ‘ineligible ‘ for POTUS (which means VP too) and ‘he is a real nasty guy who is rightfully hated in the Senate for not working with them’, this too often repeated silliness should end yesterday.

Trump says as POTUS he wants to make deals with Dems and pass laws and that Cruz is the opposite, WTF would he want Cruz as VP then?

This is retarded.

Imagine Cruz shilling for Trump. He’d have to abandon virtually every principle he’s got.

There are way more qualified people in this country that could be a great VP. Leaders.

It may be impossible now, but I think a Trump/Cruz team would be unstoppable. Normally the VP is pretty meaningless, but I think in this case it would reassure all conservatives that Trump means what he says. It would also cut off at the knees the yapping mice Huckabee and Santorum who have recently praised Trump as a way of attacking Cruz.

Both guys started as quasi-allies - for them to unite now would be to demonstrate that the kerfluffle of the last month was only that. I think it would really help to unite our side like never before.

And, as others have said, Cruz is young, and given the Republican tradition of primogeniture, this would put him in the driver’s seat for the future.

I can dream, can’t I?

That’s an unstoppable ticket and draws in the skeptical conservative base. Ideologically they are closer than many give credit. Rumsfeld wrote in his recent book that “A”s hire “A”s so this would not be inconsistent for Trump. Trump is playing to win and Cruz is the only thing in his way so his tactics are somewhat understandable.

I’d rather see Cruz as AG.

President Cruz shouldn’t let Trump anywhere near the White House. He mustn’t allow even a hint of crony corruption to taint his administration.

Yes.. Yes.. But Ted Cruz needs to get on the ball and get his affairs in order.

He would be great as VP but he needs to get the natural born citizenship issue resolved, otherwise, since there would be a question as his qualification for VP with possible lawsuits, Trump can’t name him VP because of it.

The ball is in Ted’s court, he needs to get this resolved.

It would heal the party, bring us all together and guaranteed that the democrats lose under a Trump-Cruz one-two punch.
