On his Thursday broadcast, conservative talk show Rush Limbaugh offered his analysis what has led certain elements to gravitate toward Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, including former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK), the 2008 GOP vice-presidential nominee.
According to Limbaugh, what he deemed to be the "Trump Coalition" predated the Trump's presidential bid and its roots lie in the Tea Party movement that was inspired by President Barack Obama's stimulus and later by his so-called health care reform legislation, later to be known as ObamaCare.
"Guess where they are now? They're with Donald Trump," Limbaugh said.
Transcript as follows (courtesy of RushLimbaugh.com):
You know, this business of the glue. That's what I refer to. The glue that is holding Trump coalition together. This actually predates the Trump campaign. This goes back to who the Tea Party is, if you want to know the truth about it, folks. Everybody made the mistake of thinking when the Tea Party erupted out of nowhere -- and let's not forget -- by the way, by the way, welcome back. Rush Limbaugh. Great to have you here at the EIB Network at 800-282-2882.
Let's not forget, the Tea Party was not the result of some strategic plan launched by somebody out of nowhere. It was a spontaneous eruption of mostly people that had never been professionally, formally involved in politics before. It dates to the Obama stimulus deal in 2009 but really began to coalesce with Obamacare. Those two things sent the big message to the Tea Party people, what would become known as the Tea Party people. That is, there was no longer any concern for what this government was spending. There was no longer any concern for the danger that that was going to cause.

Rush blames everything on Democrats and Obama, never blaming Bushie and his ‘New World Order’ Rinos. Sorry Rush, but Republicans are equally to blame.
True. And it wasn't about doctrinaire conservatism. It was about lots of non-ideological people who were tired of playing by the rules and getting screwed. Then the professional "conservative leaders" moved in, setting up "TEA Party this" and "TEA Party that" and trying to make it about the whole ideological checklist. They ended up alienating a lot of the independents who originally joined up because it wasn't just another conservative organization. Now a lot of those same "leaders" are mad at the unwashed proles for daring to support a nationalist who isn't conservatively correct enough for them.
Quite the terrorist looking bunch, aren't we?
Going way out of the way to downplay the reality that Trump went from nothing to front runner immediately after he declared he was running. Why?
Someones doin the raping.
Although, we did have one old geezer come after Dan Burton with his cane.
bump. rush is the water boy for the bush family.
I have to agree. We tried it the GOPe way. We fell in line behind Dole, and McCain, and Romney, and, yes, W. We voted for Republican majorities in the House and Senate. We expected, at the very least, resistance, if not roll back. We played THEIR game, and we got zip. So screw ‘em. I’ll try a little Trump this go ‘round.
Rush is RIGHT most of us are with Trump!!! However I give Glen Beck full responsibility for the tea party start. When he was on Fox people LOVED him he managed to get a million people to DC!!! They were mad and it started with Beck I do not know what the hell has happened to Beck but he is NOT the same person!!!!
Good post analyzing the tea party phenomenon.
Rush is mostly correct, however there’s more to the story.
Freedom Works, and other Tea Party organizations were backed and funded by some big names in conservative politics (Dick Army) and business donors (Koch Bros).
The large protest rallies had a broad spectrum of people who were FED up.
Once Obama and dems rammed thru the ACA via bribes and threats, people were completely demoralized.
You could see that in the size of rallies in DC and state capitals.
09/12/2009 near One Million “Tea Party” protesters turned out
09/12/2010 less than 100,000
And then there were the audit attacks on anyone who was a tea party treasurer, or who made a donation to them.
The Chicago way won out.
IMHO, Trump supporters are less idealistic and will support a strong sounding candidate, out of sheer opposition against the establishment Uni-party that has brought us to the brink of ruin.
The establishment has done a number on America, via sowing much cognitive dissonance and demoralization, which in turn has dramatically lowered the expectation of citizen voters.
Bass turds wore us down.
Oh yea, he was far too busy kissing their backsides to take a stand against them or grow a backbone....
Actually, it was Rick Santelli, of CNBC who first called for a Tea Party, in opposition to 0bie’s first stimulus/bail out.
Love those pics....and all of the thousands from across the country, that day :)
You shouldn’t comment on what Rush says if you’ve never listened to his program.
Tea Party was stymied by GOPee at every turn...now we will win with Trump party!
Also, if you think back to the 20112 primary season, when we were all so excited about Newt, how he stood up to the media and “went rogue” in the debates....Newt was being very “Trump-like”, we just didn’t know it. Newt had enough juice to win the SC primary, but that was it. Trump has more than enough to win it all.
I see a bunch of Great Americans there! Nice pics.
What’s funny is, it wasn’t the camera that made Burton look that.
What the heck is it in DC that makes them turn orange?
I'm a fortuante person who sneaks in early each day around 5:30AM into Santa Monica to ply my trade and then sneak out at around 3 pm along perhaps the most beautiful drive home down PCH through some of the most liberal detacted areas in the world I listen to Mark Levin sometimes (Mexican AM sometimes makes it impossible)
You know I've been listening to Mark Levin whine (All week about ethanol ), while trying to simultaneously kiss up to his audience (he is insulting) and keep his integrity.
He almost got me today and then I get back home read this crap from the National Review.
Here is the deal Mark - I listen to Mark, Rush and others when I'm doing something I don't need to focus intensely on. When I do, those gasbags are gone - understand! Yelling and puric victorious have amounted to bumpkiss.
Did you get Mark Levin get hislaw degree listening to Rush. No he didn't. Mark had to shut all the distraction out and focus.
Following the the (stuttering) so called conservative path to victory has led to what? ... I'll tell you what - Obama that what. And you know what else
Mark is going to replace John Bohner as the biggest cry baby if he is not careful. Yeah I said it ... that right I said it he a big cry baby, he a big cry baby because we listening to him ... not turning him off and after all his carrying not agreeing with his rants.
Today he basically came out and said some of these Judas goat conservatives he was a big time supporter of but now we should trust his judgement. Sorry Mark that ship has said - by the way thanks for telling us John Roberts a solid choice.
Quite frankly I'm sick and tired of Conservative pundits telling the sky is falling when it isn't and putting forth lame excuses for taking action against these progressive deamons. These same "conservative" pundits there next week after they've picked up the their check.
You guys (Levin, Limbaugh, Hannity) have pontificated enough now it times for the men of action to move the ball forward. Either get your hands dirty or shut the hell up.
This how it works read Eric Hoffer's "True Believer" or "Ordeal of Change". Its all right there its no mystery we are tired have having it splained to us why it so messed up. We understand why - don't lecture us when we would rather have somebody who creates than talks lead for the building part of the reformation.
Basically shut because we aren't listening anymore
Honestly Limbaugh Levin and such pale in comparison with Kirkagard, Chesterton, Burke, Aristotle, Locke, Montange Hoffer Jefferson and Washington. I'm tired of liberty having to be wedged in between snapple and life lock
He seems as detached as all the people who live on the hill is Malibu who I drive beneath
If Trump can’t fix it in the next 8 years, then there’s no fixing it.
