You can’t pump your own gas.

You can’t walk on a moving escalator."""....

Are you serious? Then that explains the reason behind the Democrat Escalator pic.

Your joking right? Tell me you are.

In Bound Brook, that license costs $450 and is only good for a period of 180 days.

Hopefully these yutes will learn a lesson about their Liberal Masters. Liberals are telling these kids that they have to be indentured to the liberal state by shoveling the first 45 driveways for them (45x$10) before they can make any money for themselves to buy video games.

That, right there, is a classic, real-world, lesson in what Liberal's stand for.

As a Teen I Shoveled My Porch, Stairs, Drive, Walk and the Street right in front of the house. That was my winter Chore. Shoveled the same amount for my neighbors houses for NO $$$. Cleared the same of areas of ICE for the same reason. My chore of being a good neighbor. That was being a good neighbor I was Taught by my Parents. This was a suburb of Detroit.

That’s the problem with “we have an understanding” type laws, where X is prohibited but “we have an understanding that X is ignored/tolerated/overlooked by police, and the ban exists to ease prosecuting someone who really is causing a problem”. You can’t expect citizens to adhere to the letter of the law, and police to enforce the law, when it’s written with unwritten selective enforcement in mind.

This is what government has become. They create idiotic laws, then create other laws to reverse the original idiotic law that should never have been passed in the first place. And we’re supposed to think they’re wonderful for doing so.

We got to work clearing the snow and all the ice. It took us at least 3 hours. And you know what our pay was? 5 bucks to be split 4 ways.

She did take pity on us and served us some hot chocolate.

Did she serve the hot chocolate with those little marshmallows on top? ‘Cause if she did, then it would have been totally worth it. ;-)

I was bonifidely sore after that venture. I made more money babysitting for 25 cents and hour and I got to raid refrigerators and the pantry that did have little marshmallows.

Great question is WHY there was a need for such licenses in the first place:

...

Companies pay good bribes for laws like that to keep competitors out and prices high.

The bill removes only licensing requirements for snow shoveling services, and only applies to solicitations made within 24 hours before a predicted snow storm.

The kids are alright, it's the big companies that have to beg permission from big brother to perform a service.

"You can't pump your own gas"

That's because - Jersey girls don't pump gas.

The activities of my youth would have been significantly less profitable had Minnesota passed such a law.

“how did we get to the point of “if it’s not expressly permitted it can become strictly prohibited” ?”

It is not prohibited, per se... you simply needed to pay the state money first before you could do it, and if you attempted to do it without paying money to the state then you would then be forced to pay even more money to the state under threat of incarceration

That’s about as UN-American as you can get. The worst I saw was after Katrina when the authorities were checking on an elderly woman and forcibly took away her gun.
