It has been a week of uncomfortable conversations in Hollywood. While many agree that the Academy's overwhelmingly white membership does play a role in the types of films and performances that get Oscar attention, some white members privately express resentment over accusations of racism in failing to nominate a single nonwhite actor or anoint Straight Outta Compton a best picture candidate.
Penelope Ann Miller, best known for Carlito's Way and The Artist, is a member of the actors branch that could have nominated Creed's Michael B. Jordan, Concussion's Will Smith, The Hateful Eight's Samuel L. Jackson or Beasts of No Nation's Idris Elba. "I voted for a number of black performers, and I was sorry they weren't nominated," she tells THR. "But to imply that this is because all of us are racists is extremely offensive. I don't want to be lumped into a category of being a racist because I'm certainly not and because I support and benefit from the talent of black people in this business. It was just an incredibly competitive year."

First the leftists universities and now the bastion of leftists giving each other career BJs.
How wonderful!
It is 68%.
All you complainers kwitcherbitchin.
But then I’ve heard racial complaints about the NFL. They talk about how few black quarterbacks there are, and how the public face of the team is frequently a white quarterback. You can’t win with these people.
Have heard similar talk about the NBA, regarding how there are not enough black coaches in the NBA.
Liberal Cat Fight. Get your popcorn ready.
And tax hikes on everyone except for movie studios.
Perhaps the academy should do what the emmies did. Put the fix in by creating an award specifically that favors "soul" and "R&B".
I just hope it wakes some of them up, and they realize that no matter what they do or say, they are going to be "racists," that nothing will ever satisfy the whiners, and that they should stop groveling. Fat chance, I know.
From now until the end of time, there will be at least one “person of color” nominated in every major Academy category.
Next year, it will be a veritable Sharpton lovefest.
Bank on it.
I am waiting for black activists to protest and boycott BET.
Waiting....
Waiting...

Its white people fault why they are not winning more awards.
And any African American who succeeds on their own merit must be silently cringing.
Who wants to win on those criteria? Wow.
“the Academy’s ... white members privately express resentment over accusations of racism in failing to nominate a single nonwhite actor”
I love it. Where’s the flashing schadenfreude sign?
soul” and “R&B”
you have to find David Bowie singing Golden Years on Soul Train in the 70s, Google it you will see a time when everyonoe, no matter the color, behaved like Ladies and Gentlemen.
Look it up before all the PC bull.
I know off subject.
Let all the minorities start their own Academy and hand out their own Oscars. Put it on TV and see what level of viewing you get. Problem solved.
They already have the Latin Grammys, why not the Black Oscars?
There were some fine looking ladies on Soul Train!
I know several voters. I’ve known some of them for over 20 years. They skew about 80 most of them. Much older membership and they are all libs. Oddly, unlike me if I was a voter, they actually watch these dogs. Amazingly honest.
Let’s just have every actor in every movie receive an Oscar. Therefore, no one will have hurt feelings.

Yes, they should give out affirmative action awards. It is not fair to have an affirmative action president and not have affirmative action awards for the actors.
Maybe they should call that award the Token award for best affirmative action actor.
