In the 2016 GOP primaries, Donald Trump has positioned himself as a hardliner on immigration. The general consensus is that no one is tougher on illegal aliens than Donald Trump. But is that actually the case?
While Trump would work diligently to deport all illegal immigrants-he has even proposed creating a âdeportation forceâ-most would be surprised to learn that he would welcome the non-violent, âgoodâ ones back in on an expedited basis. An expedited basis means line-cutting, and line-cutting means amnesty.
Trumpâs specific plan-deportation before amnesty-is known as âtouchbackâ amnesty, which was first proposed in 2007 by some members of Congress but failed after strong opposition from conservatives.
Marc Thiessen has written about it here, and also explains it below:

Contrast this with the position of Ted Cruz, who said this in December:
âMy position is very simple. I oppose amnesty. I oppose citizenship. I oppose legalization ⦠Today, tomorrow, forever. I believe in the rule of law.â
Cruz recently made note of the difference between his position and Trumpâs:

Some Trump supporters will say that Cruz flip-flopped on a legal status-although Cruz insists that he was inserting a poison pill into the Gang of Eight bill.
If we are going to consider past positions, we canât forget that Trump said in 2012 that Mitt Romneyâs plan for self-deportation was âmaniacalâ and âmean-spirited.â And in 2013, Trump told a group of DREAMers that they had âconvincedâ him.
Ultimately voters will have to ask themselves whose immigration policy they prefer, and which candidate they trust.
BS
At the moment I have nothing better to do than call out your BS.
BS
Read the record. Cruz’s policy is tougher.
Exactly right. Letting people who broke our laws back into this country is insane. Ted’s position of not letting them return is common sense.
Correct.
For someone who is so "for " their candidate, why must you try to win by tearing down the competition?
I support both Cruz and Trump, but you Cruz zealots are a true turnoff.
It’s interesting that zero just made friends with Cuba, and now we have a questionable half Cuban running for office. EVERYBODY brings who they are, to work, with them. Everything you were raised to be, everything you learned, everything you believe..it ALL comes through the door with you, to your job. It all comprises your character and experiences. If you claim to be a xian, but you drop integrity outside the door of your job, then are you REALLY a xian? It’s not a religion, right?
Cruz...who owns him? Cuba (thru his father and the ideals/culture he grew up with under his father), and I hear Goldman Sachs has a wedge in the ownership pie through his wife???
Hummmmmm....
I don’t want him.
Well it should be easy to convince the American people of this then right? Get to it.

Thiessen is a Fox News guy who seems (like many at Fox) to support anyone but Trump.
I don't have a dog in the Cruz/Trump fight as I like both. But, Trump has based his entire campaign on stopping and deporting illegal immigrants.
In short, I'm not buying this.
Breaking news? Weak troll sauce, FRiend.
And I support him in that, I agree.
Trump wanting to let the ones in who are a value to this Country, with our approval, is not a disqualifier though.
You see, being rational having differences doesn't have to be so rabid now, does it?
Cruz vs. Trump
Catholics vs. Protestants
Muslims vs. Jews
It’s interesting how the two biggest threats to the elites running for office have their die-hard brown shirts ready to slit each others throats.
Give it up Karl Rove.
And then letting them back in as if nothing happened, which is called amnesty. The particular form of amnesty is called touchback.
If Trump has convinced you that he's tough on illegals, then you've been lied to. His record tells us otherwise.
Maybe you will accept it if you see it in Trump's own words???
"I would expedite [the process], because some of these people (illegal aliens) are fantastic people. I've been to the border, I was there a few days ago. I met some people, these are fantastic people and they have great reputations within the community. So what I'd do is that I would expedite it. You have to have laws. If you don't have laws, you don't have a country. I would get them out, and I would try, the good ones -- the bad ones, they're gone, they never come back. They'll never get back into this country. But, the good ones, of which there are many, I want to expedite it so they can come back in legally."
So the Establishment, Chamber of Commerce “Conservative” web site is saying that Ted Cruz’s immigration policy is better than Donald Trump’s? And we are supposed to believe this?
Remind me again what executive position Ted Cruz has held in which he actually successfully implemented a policy?
