Ted Cruz said New York values are socially liberal and this latest action by the NY Supreme Court proves he is absolutely right. Not only are they socially liberal, but they violate the very essence of the First Amendment by punishing Christian farm owners who refused to host a gay wedding on their property:

I guess you could say the same thing about Oregon and New Mexico "values", as each of those states did the same, with a bakery and photographer.

These situations seem to reflect lukewarm Christian practice... oh they don’t want the “gay” marriage I’ll grant, but they’ll wink at any other kind even though there are myriad ways to do those wrong per the bible.

We need to get biblical enough about this that we — stone them? — no, that we let Jesus fill our lives. Then many ways to do this right and still prosper will appear.

And yet the man in most FR mirrors doesn’t seem to do anything about it but complain.

I would think that they would find some way to further evangelism.

Here are two letters I sent to about 40 papers and commentators. They have now becaome part of the group I send out around July 4.

Gay Marriage Ruling

Equal protection under the law now excludes tens of millions of Jewish, Christian and Muslim believers, who consider that classical scholarship finds homosexual relationships separate people from God. The Old Testament, holy to “People of the Book”, continually speaks of the character, identity, and purpose of God where He is identified as masculine and all humans as feminine in relation to Him. After creating all things, He created the single institution of heterosexual marriage to example the love relationship He desires with humanity. For these believers subsequent scriptural analysis must derive from that basic understanding.

The Fourteenth Amendment was never a primary concern. Without disturbing the essential spiritual quality of marriage, equal protection could have been maintained through the elegant expressions, and endless tomes legislators luxuriate in creating.

A popular civil trend now erases foundational Constitutional principles of religious freedom. These believers reside outside boundaries guaranteeing the exercise of their spiritual faith in business and personal lives..

Same sex unions becoming marriages tears the spinal cord from the desert religions, leaving a malleable fragment approved by the secular world. People will either accept this new normal or maintain a faith relationship despite repression through redefinition of the First Amendment.

The First Amendment and Gay Marriage

The 2015 gay marriage ruling completes a rewrite of our Constitution. The First Amendment says and used to mean, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press….” In contrast the ruling on gay marriage helps illustrates how far the country has departed from first principles.

We are familiar with the term “speech or expression’, which seems an innocuous expansion of the above amendment. However, “expression” enables a nearly unbounded multi-billion dollar pornography industry.

Justice Kennedy’s majority opinion stated, “The First Amendment ensures that religious organizations and persons are given proper protection as they seek to advocate and teach the principles that are so fulfilling and central to their lives and faith”. Such language severely restricts religious freedom by happening to exclude “free exercise thereof”. Therefore believers pursue a hazardous course to exercise religious beliefs in business and personal lives.

Now we have country in which a woman can express herself in the adult film industry, but cannot start a bakery and exercise her religious convictions by refusing to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple.

This isn’t the only thing that separates people from God. Mere lassitude can do it too.

We’ve now got a state court decision to appeal to the Federal system on a denial of civil rights basis. This needs to be appealed all the way to the United States Supreme Court.

Well, actually, you ‘could’ make that argument about Oregon and New Mexico. But it pretty much encompasses this entire damned degenerate America of 2016.

[[Could I hold a pig roast at a Muslim facility? I doubt it, because, well, that would be microaggression. ]]

The farm owners In this lawsuit should demand that a muslim facility host their pig roast, and even host a gay wedding- let’s see how this plays out in court-

It has not been damned yet and you should be extremely glad of that if you are in it. (John 3:17)

Evangelism is the logical answer to this. Even the “gay” usually know that it’s a miserable way to live, needing a quixotic degree of public support that they know they will never get, so they are forever in an angry grudge. They want to flip off “conventional Christianity.” I am not so certain they want to flip off Christ; He has hardly been seen around these parts for many coons’ ages.

This is what is meant by New York values. And I bet we don’t hear word one from Mr. New York on this matter.

This could afford a stopgap and in a way, I would welcome a success. Maybe the Pandora’s box lid keepers will want to be cautious at these furors, lest they actually provoke something like the proposal and passage of a Bork Amendment which would yank their lordly power away.

But for the USSC to remain arrogant might be the best gift the US ever had, because FINALLY the US might want to do something that brings the whole shebang back under better control by “We The People.” Who in turn will care more about God.

Get ready for some wild rides. But God is at the controls.

Well this kind of craziness doesn’t make America great — it makes America petty — and we should do every thing possible to get that point through Trump’s thick skull....

Cruz didn’t have time to mention this on the “New York values” point: too bad he didn’t.

I wish I could believe you.

However, there have been so many phrases I have heard for 20+ years:

"That will never happen...."
"All we want is to be left alone without being hurt."
"States will have the right to decide."
"Private businesses are not the same as public businesses."

The impossible is happening --- better get used to it and fight back HARD or go away.

You would think that they would open their own little places to host and perform these sham marriages. No.. can’t have that. Target Christians, sue them and make them suffer. That’s what marriage is all about, isn’t it?
