In Iowa, Trump intensifies ‘birther’ attack against Cruz

Donald Trump intensified his criticism of Ted Cruz at two Iowa campaign rallies on Saturday, urging voters to reject the Texas senator by saying his Canadian birth raises serious questions about his eligibility to become president.

"He was born in Canada. I guess his parents voted in Canada," Trump said at an afternoon rally in Clear Lake. "So if you were born in Canada, immediately it's a little bit of a problem."

Trump added: "You cannot put somebody there that's gonna go in ... he's going to be immediately sued."

Earlier Saturday, Trump said at a rally in Ottumwa that Cruz "has to straighten out his problems," a veiled reference to the so-called "birther" issue. But he declined to elaborate further, saying, "We'll discuss that later."

Cruz, however, is a naturally-born U.S. citizen, and most legal experts agree that he is qualified to be commander-in-chief.

But recently, he has had to aggressively push back on questions pushed from Trump about his eligibility for the presidency. He renounced his dual Canadian citizenship in 2014, and on Friday, Cruz's campaign shared with the conservative website Breitbart a copy of his mother's birth certificate showing her born in the United States.

Trump continues to go with his Anita Hill attack.

This is your Braveheart? Losing Iowa, and so the sissy tries to get the other guy disqualified.

See it true -- he's showing his true colors.

Reagan and Poppy Bush weren’t friends.

It is about time. Cruz has been unbelievably weak in the Senate and in this campaign. Trump has been carrying Cruz long enough. Time for Cruz to go into private practice. Maybe social services or something where he can read Dr. Suess all day.

Reagan and Poppy Bush weren’t friends.

Reagan never said Poppy Bush wasn't constitutionally qualified to be president. How can Trump now choose as vice president someone he doesn't think is eligible?

If Cruz wins in Iowa (still not a given), he’ll have enough steam to head on to New Hampshire?

If not?

New Hampshire is critical and if Trump wins both Iowa and New Hampshire, Cruz’s only hope are the SEC Primaries in the South.

Trump can lose Iowa and still deliver a crippling blow to the Cruz campaign in New Hampshire, just like Reagan did to GHWB in 1980.

What Trump is saying is that even he knows Cruz is eligible the problem if he is the nominee he will be sued by the liberals and be tied into court. Or at least the cloud will be over him running. This type of MSM attacks could have doubts and to the idiots out there they will believe it. Could cost him votes.

Cruz’s citizenship is a problem. Good for Trump to make people aware that the dems could sue.

Actually not. Trump said today- “Ted says ‘I’m a natural born citizen...the point is, you’re not”

most legal experts agree that he is qualified to be commander-in-chief.

Most "experts" agree that Obama is also a natural born citizen and the 14th amendment confers birthright citizenship to anyone born on US soil. Many experts also agree that the constitution guarantees the right to keep and bear arms so long as you are enlisted in government funded military unit.

Cruz had to renounce the Canadian citizenship he was born into by virtue of his father's citizenship and residency status. That makes him a naturalized citizen, not a natural born citizen.

Trump can not put Cruz on the ticket without a verified NBC status by a federal judge.

I’m not going to spend my life voting the way that makes the democrats go easiest on me.

If that’s what we’re supposed to do then why not nominate John Boehner and be done with it.
