Because he's not a real conservative. But you're right. Trump has flipped and flopped on the whole birther thing all year. If he wins I can see him offer it to Cruz and deny he ever questioned his citizenship. But I just don't see Cruz accepting it. And that has nothing to do with the birther nonsense. Cruz wants to be president and being Trump's VP would kill any hopes of that.
I just watched the Laurence Tribe interview. Holy crap. Laurence Tribe just said that his former law student, Ted Cruz was wrong in stating that the issue is settled.
