It bothered me to hear my favorite candidate, Donald Trump, seem to seek to question Ted Cruz evangelical bona fides by saying, not too many evangelicals come out of Cuba. I was going to tweet and advise him not to go there. Then I thought 'Donald Trump is a smart guy' maybe he knows something I don't know.. So I began looking for 'evidence' that Ted Cruz is a 'born again' Christian. You know a person can 'identify' as anything now days.
Just because you go to church and mentally agree with Christianity doesn't mean you have come to know the Lord. I can't find anything from Cruz about a personal testimony of salvation or regeneration... the closest I could come was this quote from him from the link above: Cruz said that because of God moving in his fatherâs life, he knows Christ is real."
Sorry, you don't know that Christ is real by how He has moved in someone else's life. You know by the great work He has done in your own heart and the personal witness of the reality of the Holy Spirit in changing your life and cleansing your conscience.
Maybe Trump knows something we don't? Or maybe I've just missed the personal testimony of Ted Cruz salvation.
I believe the personal Christian testimonies of both Ted and his father are on the Internet. They are Southern Baptists.
Interesting
Here we go again, not his personal witness but ‘seeing God at work in his family, in other words his father’s salvation, not his own: Ted Cruz launched his campaign at Liberty University, Virginia, said to be the world’s largest Christian university. It’s safe to say he is gunning for the Christian vote. At the event he spoke of the “transformative love of Christ” that he has witnessed at work in his family, and kicked off his campaign with the rallying cry: “God’s not done with America yet”.
Don’t misunderstand me, I’d love to be proven wrong and hear a testimony from Ted about his own, personal repentance, faith, and salvation experience, and the work of Christ in his life.
“I believe the personal Christian testimonies of both Ted and his father are on the Internet. They are Southern Baptists.”
You BELIEVE Ted’s testimony is on the internet? Show me!
The fact that progressive Trump has chosen to team up with Santorum and Huckabee on this says all I need to know about Trump.
Key word is “personal”. We’re told “ye shall know them by their fruit”. That’s good enough for me.
My feelings, too, Old Marine. I clicked the link, thinking I’d be reading TED’s testimony; not his Dad’s. God doesn’t have any grandchildren. When and where was Ted born again? And while we’re at it, what’s the wife’s testimony? When did SHE give her heart to Jesus? She’s a big Wall St. wheeler-dealer. Does SHE know the Lord?
Reaching into the dregs at the bottom of the barrel, aren’t you? Glad to see you consider a felon, who was jailed for accounting irregularities and fraud as your AUTHORITY on Ted Cruz’ Christianity. Jim Bakker also paid hush money to a woman he had raped. Well, when he was in the slammer he was a cell-mate of Lyndon LaRouche which may have also put his reputation up a notch in your mind. Nice character reference you bring here.
“The fact that progressive Trump has chosen to team up with Santorum and Huckabee on this says all I need to know about Trump.”
You’re good at name calling, ie, ‘progressive’... But, are you good at fact-checking? Where is Ted’s personal testimony of salvation? Not that that’s a requirement to be president, but if you’re going to portray yourself as God’s gift to Evangelicals you ought to actually be one. No testimony... no salvation... ‘the defeated the devil by their testimony, the blood of the Lamb, and because they loved not their lives unto death’ (from the Revelation)
Or maybe you’re just trying to rationalize the fact that the guy you support said something stupid.
“Reaching into the dregs at the bottom of the barrel, arenât you? Glad to see you consider a felon, who was jailed for accounting irregularities and fraud as your AUTHORITY on Ted Cruzâ Christianity.” â you
me â did you happen to notice I wasn’t quoting the felon, Jim Bakker, but Ted himself?
The sad thing is that quote from Bakker’s website was the closest thing I could find to a testimony from Ted Cruz. Let me know if you find any evidence of Ted’s personal salvation testimony and the work Christ has done in his own life, not his father’s. As one freeper so accurately said, “God doesn’t have grandchildren”

Substitute “Donald’s” for “Ted’s” in your 2nd sentence above and let’s see YOUR fact-checking. I personally don’t hold anyone in high regard who would bring in words from a felonious low-life such as Jim Bakker to make innuendo about Cruz. You’re keeping pretty unsavory company there, partner.
Men are damned for their acts, and fake piety won’t save them. You are not living a life in Christ if you are capable of slandering a good man with no basis whatsoever. You need to reexamine your own life instead of casting aspersions on another.
‘We’re told “ye shall know them by their fruit”.’
That is exactly what bothers me about that nude, prison-look tattooed photoshop Cruz is selling/promoting for campaign cash. Since when did evangelicals start pushing cigarettes?
you: “Or maybe youâre just trying to rationalize the fact that the guy you support said something stupid.”
Or maybe you just said something stupid. You seem to be missing my point.
Ted is going around portraying himself as some great faith figure.. but seems not to have a personal salvation testimony. No one is born a Christian, Jesus said, “your must be born again”. If you haven’t BEEN born-again, you really can’t participate intelligently in this conversation.
All I’m saying is a person, to be a true evangelical, must be born again. A born again person has a personal testimony of having been born again. Where is Ted’s personal testimony of repentance, faith, and regeneration? Can you find it anywhere?
Donald Trump appears to be a ‘cultural Christian, not an evangelical as far as the Christian faith goes. That’s fine. I really don’t know about his actual belief system. But, we’re not electing a pastor here, but a CEO and CIC.
The two recent declared ‘born-again’ presidents, Carter and GW, didn’t do a particularly good job at either of those positions. I say that as one who loves the Lord.
Again, stop the ad hominem, and straw man, knee-jerk reactions and show me the personal testimony of Ted Cruz.
A LOT of people have asked when/if Obama was ever baptized. Do you consider that a sin too?
I believe the most religious are the least tolerant. We shall see.
YOU: “Men are damned for their acts, and fake piety wonât save them. You are not living a life in Christ if you are capable of slandering a good man with no basis whatsoever. You need to reexamine your own life instead of casting aspersions on another.”
ME: John, you may need to take a refresher course in reading comprehension. I did not slander anyone. I never questioned whether Ted Cruz is a good man. I cast no aspersions on anyone. (unlike you casting them on me). I simply ask... where is the public record of Ted Cruz telling anyone how he came to repentance, faith, and regeneration? How is that not a fair question? Trump doesn’t claim to be an evangelical.
