What Ted Cruz said behind closed doors (SSM)
Politico ^ | December 22, 2015 | Mike Allen

Posted on 12/23/2015 6:55:57 AM PST by C19fan

In June, Ted Cruz promised on NPR that opposition to gay marriage would be “front and center” in his 2016 campaign. In July, he said the Supreme Court’s decision allowing same-sex marriage was the “very definition of tyranny” and urged states to ignore the ruling. But in December, behind closed doors at a big-dollar Manhattan fundraiser, the quickly ascending presidential candidate assured a Republican gay-rights supporter that a Cruz administration would not make fighting same-sex marriage a top priority.

TO TOLERATE HOMOSEXUALS IS EVIL.
This is what we get when we FAIL to OBEY God.
For it is written: Those who support homosexuals are against our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
These anti Christ people only bring destruction on us ALL.
I have NO sympathy for homosexuals!

Homosexuality is a "Mark" of disobedience.
Someone once asked The answer is in the definition of "REPROBATE". And the reason"why" is given in the Bible.

God has a cure for homosexuals.

"Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect
that God is just,
that his justice cannot sleep forever."

Really no surprise that Cruz acts like a typical lying politician and says one thing to one audience and another to another audience. Nor surprise that he changes his tune to match is sponsors who underwrite his campaign and now pull the strings. Can anyone be surprised at this?!

As good as Cruz is, he is still beholden to donors. Trump is not

And if you think Trump is going to spend a billion of his own money in the general you are wrong. Trump will not be given all the free media attention against Hillary that he is getting against the Republicans.

I am a full-bore Cruz supporter. This article and thread clearly demonstrates that he is the thinking persons candidate.

Ironically this may be his Achilles heel. There seems to be a lot of support for bombast, embellishment and denigration rather than thoughtful analysis.

Gay marriage is a Leftist issue, designed to divert our attention from real issues, like illegal immigration, birthright citizenship, Islam’s war on the West, Obamacare, unsustainable deficits, and government spying on its own citizens.

Cruz is right to focus on what is important.

Cruz is two things, a Christian in his private life and a constitutionalist in his public life. If you go into his past, from his very youth, he is both.

He has shown again and again that he is faithful on both scores, which gives him a predictability, you can predict how he will handle issues as they come up. You may or may not agree with him on every issue, but his approach has a philosophical consistency about it and if you want to argue against him, you do so by referring back to his philosophical foundations.

Trump is strong on one issue, which is an important issue, and that is national sovereignty. This is not nothing; if you don’t have that, you don’t have anything.

But on anything else, he is a pragmatist and a deal maker. You can know, I think with some certainty, that he will defend the country and do right by his lights, but he is not a philosophical man and you can see that his positions change over time, almost every one of his positions have changed over the last decade.

I like him because he is a fighter, and if he does nothing else, he will defend our citizenship and the border. On just about every other issue, its a crap shoot. He’s a deal-maker and a pragmatist.

I love Cruz because he is the constitutionalist I’ve hoped for, for decades now. He is the best overall candidate we’ve had in decades. Not perfect, but good and consistent and fearless.

I think we’re blessed to have these two guys in the race. They are the only two I care about, because they are the only two that will fight. The rest have proven again and again that they will talk a good game and then fold.

But between Cruz and Trump, its Cruz all the way.

I’m certainly not surprised. Cruz is an insider, period.

Do you actually think Trump believes anything? As his son said this week “he will do anything he has to to win”. And you suckers believing what he says are the most naive I can remember.
No way a progressive New Yorker is going to govern like a constitutionalist. Trumpees are being played.

Does Cruz feel that abortion legality should be “left to the states” as well ? Let’s see what else comes out.

You are aware that that is what would happen if Roe v. Wade were overturned and what conservatives have been seeking a return to since Roe v. Wade was passed?

Trump has actually run a business, employed 10,000’s of people and built things in a very tough regulatory and pro-union state.

So did Romney.

The question that we should be asking is, is Trump a reliable conservative? His past actions and positions aren't consistent with conservatism.

I find his recent statements on ethanol mandates, Kelo, NSA snooping, and affirmative action to be very troubling.

The fact that Cruz has decreed that gay marriage is a states rights issue does not necessarily make it a states rights issue, since marriage cuts across state lines.

His response is what use to be known as a “cop out”.

To place marriage back into the hands of each state only would mean he would have to take on the Supreme Court decision, which would require a major fight nationwide. He admits he would not do it. So his drop back position is rhetoric only and has no substance.

To relegate gay marriage back to the states would mean that it would be abolished.

And Trump’s answer is

Shrug, whatever the supreme court says I guess.

Cruz is the best candidate I have ever seen.
Having FReepers defend and project onto Trump like the left does Obama brings out the worst in me. It freaks me out. There is no logic to it.
25 threads denying Trump mocked the journalist. 3 seconds watching the clip I knew Trump lied. They should have just said they didn’t care if mocked and lied.
50 threads defending Trump on the 911 NJ muslims celebrating. Yeah, they found a record of some but he obviously was remembering overseas muslims.
He obviously picks up Cruz’s views - and they swear Trump said it first. Cruz’s positions are long held. Trump changes his opinions over and large and well documented but they believe and defend him.
And on and on.
The good news is Cruz is steady climbing. And he is a man of his word.

Trump is the sinless messiah, benevolent to all and tempted by none. He is above all, reigns above all, and is to be worshipped by all as the holy one. Trump alone, because of his yuge riches, is worthy of being elected as president. He is beholden to none.

Yeah, I'm tempted to rewrite some of the more glowing praise about Trump (some of it by Trump or his staff, especially the I-can't-believe-it's-not-satire "medical report") and swapping in "Dear Leader" for his name to show how it looks almost identical to a DPRK press release.

“Shrug, whatever the supreme court says I guess.”

I don’t know, maybe so. When Cruz says he will fight for the Constitution but will not fight gay marriage, then what conclusion can you draw?

More tapes will come out, watch

Yes, watch them all to be completely consistent with what he's said in public. This Politico "scoop" is a nothingburger to push a headline you've fallen for.

A total nothing burger from Mike Allen... What’s he supposed to say to a room full of gay repubs?

Does anyone really think Ted Cruz is a closet liberal? Please.
