Some Strong Signals for Donald Trump in the South [Highest Support in Minority Counties]
WSJ ^ | 12:24 pm ET | Dante Chinni

The unique base of support that has pushed Donald Trump to the top of the Republican presidential field in national polls is also likely to give him boost this spring when the campaign shifts to the South.

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas has drawn wide attention for his own efforts in Southern states, many of which will vote as part of the big, March 1 "SEC Primary," when more convention delegates will be awarded than on any other day. Mr. Cruz, who is surging in the polls, is focusing on evangelical Christian voters and other social conservatives, which form the cornerstone of his support and are plentiful in those states.

But a breakdown of recent Wall Street Journal/NBC News polling shows that Mr. Trump also has a likely base of support in those Southern states. And it comes with something of a surprise: Mr. Trump's likely strength can be detected by looking at Republican primary voters who live in counties with large African American and Hispanic populations.

This is probably about work and jobs when it is all boiled down. A surprising bump, nonetheless.

An acquaintance who lives in a predominately black town in North Louisiana tells me that the blacks he talks to like Trump, although they don’t broadcast it.

It spells massive trouble for Hillary Clinton.

Hispanic? Miss Puerto Rico in the Miss America pageant backed up Trump’s Moslem Ban, and got herself banned. She says she will vote for Trump in the Puerto Rico Presidential Primary in March. Tip of the iceberg?

I think blacks tend to rally along strong leadership. Trump is a leader, a “winner.” People like to be around a winner. I suspect many Democrats will support Trump for this fact alone.

Several here ridiculed me when I showed last week that the FL and GA polls, where Trump led big, had VERY high levels of black support. Yet this is right in line.

Yes it is. They recognize an employer when they see one, and not for busy work, allowance type jobs.

I spent many years in a Puertorican neighborhood in western Mass, many of whom I still maintain contact ... Almost to a man, they support Trump. I was rather surprised, since most of them are Democrats.

NO SURPRISE to me.

I have already posted that my black worker and his pals are voting for Trump because they believe he will bring jobs and throw out the foreigners who have their jobs.

There is a significant subset of them who would prefer an actual opportunity for a real job to a government check.

Blacks in general are not supporters of the homosexual agenda

Hillary Clinton is going full bore in support

It has been a balancing act for the democrats and it looks like the act is going to be very hard for them

Stupid on their part

Black vote is way more critical

I don’t think Trump would be the best person to try and develop this wedge. He hasn’t been vocal in a pro-homosexual agenda, but he’s also stayed away from attacking it. I think the economy/jobs is a better fit for him and minorities.

I am not sure about the enthusiasm for Trump among blacks, but I suspect there isn’t as much for Hillary compared to past DEM candidates.

I submit the “gibmedats” haven’t been handed out yet. Once Hillary announces it, the locals will get on board.
