“The key to wnning the budget battle is to have control of both houses of congress and the white house. Otherwise you have a train wreck and the GOP loses the optics.”

The gop had control of both the house, the senate, and the presidency under GWB. When they had it, they acted just like they are now.

We have one party, the uniparty, with two collaborating factions. You can elect republicans till you’re blue in the face, and you’ll get the same results.

The GOP got the budget passed during that 4 years as well, with little fanfare. The last budget they wrote had a deficit of only $137 billion which Nancy Pelosi increased to $167 billion after the Dem’s retook the House. From there, the deficit skyrocketed in subsequent years under Dem rule and then divided rule.

Nailed it. People need to start opting out of all of it. Mass civil disobedience is the only way. If 100 million + productive citizens stop filing tax returns, paying speeding tickets, property taxes, homeschooling, paying their mortgage, applying for zoning permits, etc, it will overwhelm the system and we can rebuild. If everyone takes 10% of what they used to spend on taxes, fees and fines to fund a defense and restitution fund for to help the ones that the government does prosecute, we could care for the wounded and see them through. It's a pipe dream, but what non-violent options are we left with?
