The head of the Democratic National Committee is encouraging party members in Congress to invite Muslim-Americans to President Obama's State of the Union next month as a rebuke to Donald Trump.
And no, based on Politico's reporting, they don't specifically say it's a rebuke to Trump himself, but it's pretty strongly implied in some of the language they use.
DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Congressman Keith Ellison (one of two Muslims in Congress) wrote a joint letter to House Democrats saying that inviting Muslims to the State of the Union sends a message that "we will not be intimidated by fear into discrimination."

How about the Republicans invite some family members of the San Bernardino victims?.

I am sure the good folks in San Bernadino will appreciate the gesture. This could also drive a wedge between the swishy moderates whose tender hearts keep them slightly in the Democrat camp and the hard line leftists.
I have a long time friend who fits this demographic that switched over and voted Republican for Romney because he was finally seeing the damage being done by Liberalism.
Maybe our regular debates helped, but I think it was what he saw going on for himself.

To be fair, put out the word that the first fifty Syrian refugees that show up will be ushered in without being vetted or searched.
