Shortly after Ted Cruz told GOP power brokers that Trump lacked the "judgement" to be president, Kellyanne Conway-- who runs Cruz's Keep the Promise I super PAC– defended RNC plans to strip Trump of the nomination at a brokered convention-- even if he wins the majority of votes and plurality of delegates...

KC: No, it's not cheating.

...

Chris Matthews: The candidate who gets the plurality of votes-- the most votes...should be the nominee?

KC: No, I'd have to look at the math.

...an entirely naive view. Politicians of all stripes do what is in their best interest it is the people whom you should blame, for failing to vote their interest on an intelligent informed basis.

So says a guy who makes his life outside of the U.S.

Love ya, Nathan, but you've developed a narrow and blinkered view of where America is, and what we most need for our national survival at this time. More and more, your views sound like so much theoretical pontificating.

Perhaps you need to come home for a spell and spend some time in the trenches under the current regime to truly understand Trump's appeal.

Fair enough, thank you.

It just seems to me the guy maybe had been sent to steal away the base (and in the end -- split the vote-- divide and conquer, anyone?).

If he wasn't sent, he's a self starter in it. If he ends up being the nominee, the witch could appear to be reasonable in comparison. That's her best suit -- and one of the only ones she holding cards in --"appearing reasonable". We know that her cards are forgeries, but we've been playing this game using phony/false narrative cards, stacked decks (and marked cards among the media Democrat Party, which they enter into play when it looks like they may be losing) for so long a whole lot of people think that's the only way this casino operates.

So Trump, knowing the game, pretends he's a royal flush? The Extra-Wrong Party (that would be the Dems) is smugly smiling, licking their chops, in anticipation of inspecting Trumps hand. "Look!" they are already crying, it's all racist (and "war on women") and why, Trump is the perfect conservative isn't he? --- just look how wrong he is blah, blah, blah it all fits within bumper-sticker size thought processes. Trumps stays within bumper-sticker parameters, but is proposing a this or a that when H hasn't said much of anything and is getting away with it (with help of the media who are beginning to increasingly not like her, either).

They know Hillary can't win it fair and square, or are at least very worried that she won't -- but they can't seem to take it upon themselves to get rid of her, and supply a less far-left liberal candidate.

What they really want to avoid is debating Cruz one on one. Cruz would wipe the floor with her -- but they likely have plans a-foot in case of that possibility already. A new model (cut of same or better cloth) slimmer Candy Crowley to be part of the strategical strike force I'd imagine is being sought out, and debate parameters they would prefer are being examined. They stay on ready to fight on their own turf, under their own conditions, fighting all the time to make it that way so that the Extra Wrong Party can overcome their own handicaps. But enough talk about the media?

This time around hope n changey wouldn't work.

Hillary is not an ideal candidate for people in the swing-vote middling ground to project their own personal idealism and sense of right and wrong upon as was the case for the unvetted but legendary majic knee "hope".

Which means the manipulators on the left have to come up with another plan.

I think I catch a wiff of rat. But may simply instead be smelling 'opportunistic populist' with a big ego.

That, and the stench of extremist Demo-party operatives (read: fooking commie bastards) running around inciting & "organizing" grievance politics grievance upon grievance which they intend to use in any ways possible. Right and wrong has nothing to do with it. Bring on the Hegelian dialectical. They have the choppers (read; bloody lie-telling & lovin' FANGS) for it, and are presently working nonstop to import even more "possibilities". It's positively demonic.

The entire system stinks. Followup votes of the TOP TWO is the only way to faultlessly resolve a lack of majority votes. And sending signals to the ‘G’ OP that you’re ‘in’ is a nasty, questionable thing to do. Very poor judgment. Good judgment is a challenge for Team Cruz just like it is for everyone.

Nathan, you escaped the Peoples’ Republic of the Dis-United States?

I’m so ENVIOUS.

Right on. Stay there, avoid tax money, and help us from afar. Breathe the air of freedom!

Good point. And you are right — he can’t exactly fire someone he’s not allowed to contact.

But he should distance himself from this in a public statement that is not specific. That’s what Carson did and Rubio too? I forget about Rubio these days.

I do hope that Cruz is not destroyed by this election. Ideally I hope he ends up stronger regardless.

Your reply has caused me to rethink my reply proclaimed as you seem to think ex cathedra which has stimulated you to extend regrets about my place of abode. The people have twice now intelligently voted their interests in off year elections in 2010 and in 2014. They deserve no credit for their votes in 2008 and 2012 on the national level. Unfortunately, their votes were betrayed.

That is why I support Ted Cruz who went to town but stayed faithful.

Donald Trump has never been faithful to any principle greater than himself and spent these years engaging in crony capitalism in a corrupt system to enrich himself. Now we are to believe that he has come to Jesus.

Well, his road to Damascus never went as far as ethanol, or Scalia. I think we will see more and more of this betrayal of conservative principles by Donald Trump. If he ever gets into the Oval Office he will feel no constraints at all. Will he double the ethanol subsidies? Will he appoint justices who find Scalia repugnant as Trump does? Assurances that his conversion is real and permanent are not enough in a candidate who is a mere flip flopper but Donald Trump is a flip flopper who is a narcissist. There is no reason to believe that once converted he will stay converted.

I hope you are right. If it was the only good plan out there, I’d be happy with it.
