Shortly after Ted Cruz told GOP power brokers that Trump lacked the "judgement" to be president, Kellyanne Conway-- who runs Cruz's Keep the Promise I super PAC– defended RNC plans to strip Trump of the nomination at a brokered convention-- even if he wins the majority of votes and plurality of delegates...

KC: No, it's not cheating.

...

Chris Matthews: The candidate who gets the plurality of votes-- the most votes...should be the nominee?

KC: No, I'd have to look at the math.

This whole thing is a non-issue. Any time there is no candidate with a majority of delegates, you have a brokered convention. And that is all the Cruz team was saying. Trump supporters are trying to make something out of nothing.

btw, in 1976, Ford has a majority of the delegates. Reagan supporters tried to change the rules to release Ford delegates from their obligation to support Ford. The Reagan delegates failed in that bid, and Ford was nominated. But following that, Reagan addressed the Convention with a very passionate speech. And when that speech ended, every Ford delegate at that Convention realized they had made a huge mistake.

REagan was more like Cruz and Trump than anyone wishes to admit. I remember those times well. The country and the world was cheated from having a young vibrant REagan, but then again, we needed an inept Jimmy Carter to give us REagan, same as we need a lazy, incompetent loser like Obama to bring us Trump.

Any brokered convention would be to stop Cruz just as surely as it would be to stop Trump. Ms. Conway should rethink her position. In no way would Cruz emerge as a “compromise candidate”.

I am 1000% in agreement with your statement!!!! Trump is NOT the perfect candidate but Cruz CANNOT beat Hillary!!!! This ity bitty dust up with Cruz and Trump is being fueled by the MSM they WILL end up on the same ticket!!! MSM will DESTROY Cruz that is WHY they are pushing this narrative they CAN’T control Trump!!!! MSM will go on ENDLESSLY about how he shut the government down, bla bla ,bla...... The LIV’S will RUN to the polls and vote for Hillary!!! We NEED Trump to begin to right the ship then acceptance of a Cruz presidency will be easier!!! We NEED to let Trump FIGHT these HUGE battles with MSM and GOP-E he is the ONLY one who can do it successfully!!!!!!! GOP-E heads are exploding over Trump we should ALL be VERY happy about that!!!! The fact that ALL MSM are now PUSHING this Cruz narrative should be VERY suspicious to EVERYONE!!!!!!!

A photo of two people together proves nothing. Unless you're a trump fanboi trying to trash other candidates.

With Cruz they get to stay.

It’s not amnesty if they have to leave and apply just like everyone else. Look up the definition. Getting to stay (Cruz’s plan) is amnesty.

Trump has said many times it’s unfair to those waiting in line. Many times. He’s the only one to point this out since Tancredo, Hunter, and Sessions. The legal process needs to be expedited because it takes 10 years to get here sometimes. Because we are saturated with illegals. All applications will be expedited.

Did anyone notice this was said by someone working for a Super Pac? Cruz’s campaign cannot have any contact with a Super Pac by law.

The mystery is why Kellyanne Conway would go on Chris Matthews show in the first place.

She made her name on the old Hardball show before Matthews lost his mind.

What he does not realize is these sleeze balls will walk away from him so fast to get Rubio, Bush, Kasich, Christie etc the nomination. Cruz is becoming their useful idiot.

I watched 5 minutes of Zero and saw what he was doing because I was trained in the same methods. I didn’t think he stood a chance, outside of hell, of being elected to anything. I was underestimating the stupidity of the American people and depths that the Dems would go to win an election. I was foolish.

I also know that left wing not for profits did a lot of the data gathering/psyop work on behalf of the Obama campaign. This is what the GOPe means when they speak of being "behind" in data management.

It's a brave new world, and we should adjust our own behavior to avoid being gathered up in the net. That means closing FB accounts, creating disposable email addresses when posting, etc.

Kellyanne, if Trump meets all the rules of nomination of the convention, and they broker him out anyway, then it IS cheating. Just more disgusting GOP-e shenanigans.

I agree and it would guarantee a dem win. Most Trump supporters, myself included, would be happy to vote for Cruz. I doubt he could beat Hillary but he's have my support...unless he wins the nomination in the way described in the article. If the nomination is stolen from Trump at the convention then whoever the nominee is can go to hell. I won't vote for them. Period.

Insults show I win ;)

One deportation doesn’t mean a thing. W ‘increased’ them too. Millions stayed.

McCain said he was against amnesty. Nobody admits it. Them getting to stay = amnesty.

You point about the firewall which must be maintained between the candidate and the PAC which I would've made had I been replying on my computer instead of on my tablet.

This idea that the candidate can be tainted because someone supports him is a fastidious of way of getting to guilt by association.

I'm not sure why folks have such a hard time distinguishing between a cloture vote and a vote for an actual bill. Cruz voted against TPA. Without the Corker bill, Congress would have had no say in the Iran deal, which Obama was going to complete without Congress. Now, since Congress did not give its approval, the next President can nullify the agreement.

Obviously you have not read Cruz's Immigration policy. Maybe you are buying the deliberate lie of some on this site using the amendment he offered during the gang of 8 bill, which he and Sessions both did as a tactic to kill the bill.

I have folled Cruz's career since he was elected. He was advocating for a wall when Trump was still calling Romney mean for supporting self deportation during the 2012 election.

Then there's this:

"We stopped the Gang of Eight bill. Ted Cruz led the fight against the establishment. We would be living under amnesty right now if Cruz had not succeeded." - Rush Limbaugh

Mercer is a closed border, evangelical Christian. That’s why he supports Cruz.

I read this a couple of days ago when it first came out. I’ve not read anything since that shows Cruz disavowing her statements. Pretty telling.

You do realize that SuperPACs aren’t under the control of the candidates they support, right? That would be a violation of federal law.
