Doesn’t Houston have a lot of black and Hispanic voters, both groups which tend to vote Democrat?

It’s probably all those Katrina “refugees” from N’awlins. One would expect Texans to have more sense than that. Houston is now West N’awlins.

The old adage certainly applies to the low information voters and the Gimmedats in Houston.

If informed people don't think it is important to vote they deserve the government we get.

Thanks to all of the taxpayers that were to lazy to go vote.

The Houston elite have always tended to be liberal, too. Over the years, lot of business executives followed the salaries there from California, New York, Chicago, etc.

Houston is not different than any other large American city. San Diego might be the only big city with a GOP mayor.
