Carson sharpens criticism of Cruz

(CNN)Ben Carson is hemorrhaging support to Ted Cruz in the polls -- and now he's sharpening his attacks on the Texas senator.

Carson argued he's spent his life making life-or-death operating calls instead of attending swanky parties and raised campaign cash in an appearance on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday.

"There's no question as I haven't spent a lot of time schmoozing and asking for big money and going to cocktail parties, but I've spent many a night in the operating room -- cold, sterile place with a little child's life on the line working very hard to preserve that," Carson said.

Carson's comments come after Cruz had questioned support for both Carson and Trump at a private donor event, according to audio leaked to The New York Times.

"You know, it's a very different kind of experience," he said. "Lots of 2 a.m. in the morning calls and making snap decisions on what needs to be done."

I like Carson but he doesn’t seem acerbic enough to run a campaign.

I like Carson a lot, but have never understood his presidential run or aspirations. I just don’t get it.

This does not bode well for Carson as he is mischaracterizing Cruz’ career which has only involved a short stint as a politician.

I really wish these outsiders would have run for the Senate instead. We need them in that utterly corrupt body more than ever. I make the exception for Trump. Win or lose I LOVE the way he’s making heads explode by bringing up issues they would NEVER have made front and center. I hope Trump brings up term limits next.

Give Ted your best shot, buddy.

I do not think Sen. Cruz will lose much sleep over this one.

I am sure a lot of people owe their lives to Dr. Carson’s skill as a surgeon and I would expect him to make the best medical choice for a patient at 2 a.m. His entire life has been about medicine and the operating room is his arena - not foreign affairs or the muck and mire of Congress and governmental agencies. IMO he would make a great Surgeon General and needs to stick with what he knows and is, by reputation, very good at.

Carson a newbie to the Right big moment was criticizing obama. Ted Cruz has been fighting obama’s policies for years. That the experience that matters, imo.

Carson is not ready for the job, but; Cruz has been a person who Club for Growth gave a lot of cash.

Good grief...Running a country is not brain surgery and there is absolutely no correlation between the two.....except you might get a call at 3:00 AM in the morning.

But hell, my kids did that to me all the time.

[”There’s no question as I haven’t spent a lot of time schmoozing and asking for big money and going to cocktail parties”]

TED CRUZ takes a responsible approach in managing the big money he’s raised, unlike BEN CARSON.

I just hope that Trump and Cruz are able to establish some good cop - bad cop routine to destroy the establishment. His supporters here at least seem determined to make Cruz this year’s Santorum. We’ll see. Cruz was rising in my esteem until recently. Kind of sliding down again now. Trump is nowhere near my idea of the perfect candidate, but he is the only one who strikes me as able to STOP our decline.

Of all of them, Carson would be my vote for neighbor, for sure.

Good for Carson. He recognized the snark too.

I’ve come to the conclusion that public office should be like the draft; a kind of lottery. Voting just creates a professional charlatan class known as politicians.

Give up the dream Carson. Your best shot is getting VP, and that isn’t likely. We need a VP who can shut down the rabid left in debates.

We have elected one person after the other who promised results. They do not deliver as they are all owned by PAC’s. Only Trump can get this country back. If he gets crazy they can always impeach him.

Well, this is what comes with the territory.

Cruz has skirted by for months. He needs this fight. If he cant withstand hits from Carson, Rubio, and Trump, then he will not be “ready for Hillary”.
