The St. Paul City Council will vote next week on a resolution that condemns "anti-Muslim and anti-immigration speech" from Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The resolution, sponsored by council member Dai Thao, is on the agenda for next Wednesday, Dec. 16.
In the document, Thao says that the city has a rich history of accepting immigrants and refugees and strives to be the "most livable" city in America for all people. He said the "anti-Muslim and anti-immigration speech" from Trump conflicts with the values of the city of St. Paul, and he wants the city to officially condemn it.
The resolution would also declare Trump to be unwelcome within city limits.
Trump has called for a "total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States," which has sparked widespread condemnation in the U.S. and abroad.
If Trump doesn't come to St. Paul, he isn't missing anything.
Totalitarian fascists never think they’re the totalitarian fascists.
That would be funny come Jan 2017 after Trump gets sworn in.
I don’t think we’re in America anymore, Toto. This joint is starting to look like Nazi Germany.
lol. Minnesota is more muslim than Syria, fugawdsakes.
What time have the Democrats in St. Paul scheduled the “Two-Minutes Hate” for?
It’s not really “The Full Orwell” without a Two-Minutes Hate, doncha know.
Somali invasion in St. Paul?
Wonder how St. Paul will enforce their edict? Will the St. Paul Police draw down on Trumps Secret Service detachment?
I wonder if the ban will still be in effect after he’s sworn in as president?
This means it should be his first stop.
Let them send their police to try to stop an American citizen and likely next President from walking on American soil, as the Constitution expressly authorizes.
If he wins, Minneapolis will join St. Paul in this silliness.
+1,000
I’m sure Trump is chomping at the bit to go to some 2 bit Progressive backwater.
Don't forget ending Fed money to Sanctuary Cites is one of President Trumps first acts.
They may hate him even more, but you can bet that Trump isn't going to be the only one not welcome in St. Paul.
Neither will illegals.
One of Obama’s first pronouncements was that we should not go to Las Vegas, if I remember correctly.
Vegas survived because it’s fun and the temp rarely gets below zero.
I agree. Show ‘em up.
Isn’t any law that names an individual Unconstitutional? Ex-post facto?
