You could show a movie on the side of that thing.
I don’t know why, but as a retired Navy guy, “I’ve got a bad feeling about this” and I just can’t put my finger on it.
LOL! Man...looks like a floating cardboard box.
Can’t wait to see how it does in very stormy seas.
Active Duty ping.
Not liking this thing
I was hoping to see it tonight as it was supposed to tie up next to the inaugural party for Portland’s new liberal mayor. It was a no show as of 8 pm.
It was a must show event for those politically active in our city.
I hope she performs better than she looks. It’s uglier than mud flaps.
gCaptain.com is a great site for maritime news.
Should have called her the Merrimack.
Monitor...Merrimack....LOL That’s exactly what popped into my mind!
Looks like a shell magnet. Enemy guns have a large barn door to hit.
Armed with a single MA-2 .50 caliber Browning, this much feared naval vessel carries up to 30 rounds of aluminum piercing ammunition. It is the first in an entirely new naval architecture class -- technically, âclitoralâ (not to be confused with âlittoralâ) -- being pushed on the Pentagon by the defense minded wussies in the Obama Administration as a cost-saving measure. If you look closely, you can see the heavy-duty seat restraint which prevents the pilot/gunner â Kamakazi Kowalski â from leaping from the vessel prior to engaging the enemy. The 12 V trolling motor â which lacks a reverse function -- propels this sophisticated craft forward at a top speed of 4 knots. Reverse travel â at approximately 35 knots -- is achieved by firing the Browning.
The no-bid contract to build 200 of these fearsome warships was to have been awarded to Obama-Soros-Emanuel Shipbuilding and Stormdoor Manufacturing (formerly General Dynamics) and will be administered by trusted Obama associate and former Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emanuel who commented that, at $12 million each, they are a bargain. They will be constructed exclusively at the companyâs facility in Kenya with major subcomponent production (rivets and miscellaneous fasteners) at the companyâs Harlem and Skokie plants. Delivery is expected to begin in 2024 (or as soon as the subcontractorsâ funds are safely in the contractor's Swiss account).
Where are the guns???
God bless her, she’s got a face only a mother could love.
Instability Questions About Zumwalt Destroyer Are Nothing New, Defense News, Dec. 3, 2015
"We've done all the modeling and testing to convince us that this is a great hull form." -- Allison Stiller, the deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for ship programs.
Navy officials and engineers insist the design is safe, and point to extensive testing using computers and a variety of scaled-down models that have sailed test tanks and coastal areas such as the Chesapeake Bay.
The Navy has built scale models to test the DDG 1000 design, including a 150-foot quarter-scale steel hull that was "extraordinarily stable," said one industry source.
We’ll be able to tell in a few years whether or not it’s a good hull design by whether the Chinese and the Russians start building copies.
