Stoked by evangelical and tea-party support, Ted Cruz has surged to first place in Iowa, according to the results of a Monmouth University poll released Monday surveying voters likely to participate in the Republican caucus on Feb. 1.
Cruz earned 24 percent of support among likely caucus-goers, with 19 percent opting for Donald Trump, whose polling advantage in the state has dwindled in recent weeks. In a Quinnipiac University survey conducted in mid-November, Trump held a slim 25 percent to 23 percent advantage over Cruz, while retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson finished with 18 percent.
In this survey, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio finished third with 17 percent, followed by 13 percent for Carson (a 19-point drop from October), 6 percent for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, 4 percent for Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, 3 percent for former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and 2 percent for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. All other candidates finished with 1 percent or less support, with 4 percent undecided and 1 percent describing themselves as "uncommitted."

Yeah right!
Knew it. Easy call.
Those little towns are important.
Waiting for the Iowa doesn’t matter crowd to show up.
Hmm....so they’re saying Carson is imploding, and Cruz is benefiting more than Trump (in fact, Trump’s numbers actually decline). Not a bad thing, if true.
Jebbie Bush now down to 4 per cent in Iowa, that is indeed happy news.
Huzzah!
yes!
Cruz wins Iowa, then he takes the momentum and his organization to the Southern primary’s...he’s going to be really, really strong, and he’s expanding his follower base every day its looking good for Ted.
How about the “Read more than one poll” crowd?
+1!
But....Rubio seems to be picking up support (competitive third place) though he hasn’t caught the anti-E candidates.
I bet the GOPe is giving up on Yeb, and trying to push Rubio.
It’s only one poll, but there has been some very positive movement for Cruz in Iowa in a couple of them now. It’s showing that, for now, the ground game, full Grassely tour, and the endorsements are starting to pay dividends for Ted. I remain cautiously optimistic.
Good news I don’t believe, just means Cruz gave Trump a wake up call he better do some ads and organize better, and stop resting on his laurels.
I hope Ted and Donald stay on good terms, The enemies are the GOPe and Hillary not these two men.

Not true. The MSM knows the Cruz crowd is out there and that is their very last hope, that Cruz can dislodge Trump and let the establishment back in. Not gonna happen.
Go, Ted, go! The conservatives’ choice.
