The idea of Cruz as the nominee makes fellow GOP senators shudder.
Ted Cruz has built his Senate career and presidential campaign on his willingness to stick it to the Republican establishment. And now that heâs gaining momentum in the primary, his many GOP nemeses in Congress are returning the favor by quietly coalescing behind Marco Rubio.
Senior Republican senators whoâve clashed with Cruz for years have had nothing but nice things to say about Rubio even as he's dissed â and largely ditched â his day job in the Capitol. Just this month, Rubio has racked up endorsements from nine members of Congress, compared with two for early GOP front-runner Jeb Bush. More House endorsements for Rubio are set to roll out in December, according to campaign sources, and several GOP senators said privately they expect their colleagues to get behind Rubio once the GOP field thins.

The duplicity is SO obvious!!
You sure have that right. The fact that many senior Republican senators support Rubio tells me all I need to know about #1 Rubio, and #2 those senators. It’s not like we already didn’t know, but it’s nice to have a reminder about just how bad (and anti-conservative) the Republican elites are. If only we could send most of them packing!
What do they gain backing Rubio? The more Rubio’s agenda that gets to the public the closer his chance of getting elected comes to matching Bush’s.
I think the senate will try-—and more than anything, this is why I think it has to be Trump. I think he is much more willing and able to sidestep or go over the heads of the establishment. Cruz has not shown so far he can have success at this.
More proof that the GOP is hopelessly corrupt.
Whatever happens in 2016, the GOP has to be replaced with a new political party.
It is Whigged out.
It should be the people who pick the candidate(s), NOT the rino’s or demodummies. It is time for complete and total removal of both parties as they are all crooks.
They are starting to panic. They cannot get the stench of amnesty off of Rubio. That repulses the base.
They only way to keep control of the GOP apparatus is to steal the nomination through chicanery. But they fear us peasants revolting. (I know, we stink on ice.)
It is the people who pick the candidate. However, the GOP has made some stupid rules that pretty much ensure a GOP big wig over a smaller candidate.
The winner takes all is a problem that NOBODY admits....blue states win all, but conservatives states give proportional......DUMB.
A small candidate does not have the exposure of a larger candidate which is why they would go with a Rubio over a Cruz. Cruz would never get any Senator votes.....he fights them at every turn even naming a turnpike pit stop. He doesn’t have any fans in the Senate so why is this a surprise?
This is the republican-majority senate that we were all so exuberant about, post election.
But, they selected McConnell - the chinless wonder - as their leader. Of course, he’s had his head so far up Reid’s ass since then, that we’ve almost forgotten what he looks like.
It’s the people, not the senate, that elects presidents. And with the public approval of the senate being at an all time low, I doubt the senators choices will carry much weight at the polls.
The senate has backed obamas warped policies for so long, it’s no doubt they’ld feel like unrepentant hypocrites if they had to follow a Trump or Cruz presidency.
Ignore the senate.......Obama does.....
Another hit piece from Politico.
If Marco completely collapses, perhaps the GOP-e will try to resurrect Chris Christie. The Union Leader actually endorsed Christie over the weekend....and to think that they were once a conservative paper.
If anyone thinks this is going to hurt Cruz, they are making a huge error in judgment. The Washington Cartel is getting desperate.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just nine percent (9%) of Likely U.S. Voters think Congress is doing a good or excellent job overall, while 63% rate the current Congress poorly. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Having the backing of the Senate is not a resume enhancement in this case.
And Lord knows that, should Rubio gain the endorsement of senior Republican senators, we’ll all jump on the Rubio bandwagon - since we hold Republican senators in such incredibly high esteem, that is...
"But congressional Republicans say the truest indicator of Rubio's strength is the abuse he's getting from Democrats. They''ve been pounding him daily over missed votes and briefings, while dissecting his policy plans. Cruz, by comparison, has been getting kid-glove treatment, to the extent Democrats mention him at all in opposition dumps from the party apparatus and outside liberal groups."
Cruz Gets FAR more abuse from the left than Rubio does.

So, desert the only true fighter in Washington in favor of a guy who's never met an establishment he didn't like, but now says he's against.
The “true fighter” in Washington hasn’t accomplished one tangible thing in three years. Love his principles and policies, but his track record isn’t reassuring. No, I’ll go with a guy who has consistently accomplished what he set out to do.
What does Rubio have to gain from more establishment endorsements? We already know that Rubio is a pro-Amnesty big government liberal who happens to be in the Republican party. Endorsements from other big government liberals will only reinforce the obvious facts that everyone knows. The real question: will these establishment endorsements of Rubio help Rubio, or will they help Cruz?
