If you have followed the news headlines lately, you know that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) â the bureaucracy responsible for ensuring the safety of our nationâs travelers â has seen better days. An internal investigation released in June found that the TSA had a stunning 96 percent failure rate in detecting weapons and fake explosives. More recently, a report from âThe Today Showâ revealed that NBC producers were able to pass airport security with Swiss army knives and box cutters in tow. Comforting, huh?
While knives and weapons may make it past airport security all too often, your handgun carry permit â a government-issued form of identification â will not. I speak from personal experience. On a recent flight from Nashville to Washington, I approached the TSA counter only to realize my driversâ license was tucked away in a pocket of my jeans at home. Unfazed, I pulled out my handgun carry permit to identify myself to the agent. The card bears my picture, my full legal name, my date of birth, and a hologram with the state seal.

Lost all mine in a terrible surf canoeing accident years ago.
I just want the TSA to give my deoderant back.
Was it assault-style deodorant? If so, you will probably not get it back.
Stick, spray, liquid, or What?
The TSA is a joke organization run by morons and staffed largely by those ignorants utterly unemployable anywhere else.
“Or they wouldn’t admit it to a poll taker.”
Do I own a gun? Hell, no! I’m scared silly of the things. One could go off, just sitting on the table. No way, Jose.
TSA the new and improved NKVD! The bureaucracy must be reined in or between them, the left and islam we are doomed.
I flat out refuse to fly, if I can’t drive I don’t go because I refuse to give up my Rights to a bunch of government goons at anytime. May they airlines go bankrupt for putting up with the TSA’s thug like behavior.
You are sure right on that.
I flew to Europe and back going through Amsterdam.
The Dutch security interviewed each passenger while watching the passengers eyes and behavior. They gave special attention to middle easterners.
