Donald Trump's grip on the Republican presidential race grew tighter on Friday as the standing of Ben Carson fell in the latest NBC News/Survey Monkey online poll of Republican and Republican-leaning voters nationwide. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, meanwhile, is moving closer to the top.
The Manhattan business mogul picked up 28 percent, followed by Carson and Cruz, who are tied at 18 percent. In the previous survey, released in October, Trump and Carson had been locked in a virtual tie at 26 percent each, followed by 10 percent for Cruz.
In the latest survey, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio trails the top three with 11 percent, followed by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 4 percent and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina tied at 3 percent. All other candidates earned less than 3 percent support.

I fully expect the establishment to reform the entire primary system next time. They have to be beside themselves right now.
Can’t wait for the next article from the usual suspects (NY Times, Huffman Post, Slate, etc) explaining how Jeb! is perfectly poised to win the nomination.
... NBC News/Survey Monkey online poll ... = meaningless.
And yet, Jeb will have top billing in every debate going forward, even as he falls to 2%.
“I fully expect the establishment to reform the entire primary system next time. They have to be beside themselves right now.”
In this next election, the voters need to tell both parties that their “leadership” is out!
If it’s meaningless, why does it track almost perfectly with EVERY other poll, except maybe a little lower for Trump (who is in the 30s in many of these polls)?
Wouldn't it be funny if Jeb was dropped to the kiddie table debate? No doubt Trump would fake looking/asking for Jeb's take on a pending question, then feigning "oh, that's right, Jeb was in the other debate"
He's a loser in every sense of the word. Why anyone still backs him financially is beyond me. Must have money to burn.
Cruz is moving up in the polls. Go Ted!
Ben Carson should step down now. He is not adding anything that is needed and he is malleable to the big money people. If he is president the big money sharks will encircle him with all of their Eastern establishment “wise men”. Nothing changes. Same old, same old.
I like that Trump had the common sense to listen to Jeff Sessions. God bless Jeff Sessions, he is a hero. He should be the leader of the Senate, not turkey face McCollom.
Get out now Carson, you are not helping the country.
And the Jeb backers are going to lose their money. Haha.
CW will not be pleased.
Go Trump!!!
Drop so low they will have to give him crutches to hold him up.
I would support Trump, if he wins the nomination.
CRUZ!!!
If he is sucking oxygen from the room by being a place for those not ready yet to vote for Trump or Cruz to park their votes, I think that he is serving a very useful purpose. If the 18% were spread around, several more people might be breaking 4%.
on-line survey monkey poll?
Sheesh.
Politico staff must be sending out for fresh BVD’s.
Yeah, which just happens to be right in line with all the “approved” polls. Sheesh. So which do you disagree with? All of them?
If you need someone to explain the problem with on-line polls to you, good luck.
I don’t do “chat”.
