I agree. I don’t think any “non-profit” should be giving out bonuses. They may not have shareholders but it is pure profit for the employees. Planned Parenthood gives out bonuses and claims to be “non-profit”...maybe they shouldn’t be selling those baby parts even if it means there’s no bonus.

...those bonuses being the extra cash earned from selling baby parts. I think it’s disgusting they call themselves “non-profit” when bonuses are paid.

For the VA, let me ask - what was improved to deserve a bonus? Were costs lowered? Was quality improved? Were waiting list times improved? We all know the answer; no. They work in a uncompetitive environment with a secure job at taxpayer expense. When they have so many problems, no way anybody should be getting bonuses.

There are two govt practices that really, really, set me off when I am reminded of them. One is the bonus payouts to employees at any level of any tax funded institution. The other is the ridiculous number of paid time off from their jobs for federal holidays. Personnel should be hired for a job with the expectation, and requirement, that they do the work required. How is it possible for a federal employee to go beyond that? They already have pay grades to move up to increase their salaries. On the holiday issue, I see no rationale for the number of paid holidays which are now not much related to their original intent. They have been scheduled to extended weekends, or enhanced vacations. I think taxpayers should also be compensated for each holiday time off of govt employees by a tax refund computed by some brainy govt mathematician.

“Performance bonuses”

More like rewarding a lack of performance.

The VA didn’t give those bonuses. We did.
The company I work for is about to go under, but I will still owe the irs on April 15. And the money I send in will again go to dead butt federal employees.

Life is good.
