If I remember correctly, weren’t there IRA provocateurs who opened fire briefly on the British troops from one side, which started the shooting by the British?started the firing.

It is true that those who ended up being shot were unarmed, but if memory serves, the British soldiers were provoked by individuals who them immediately faded away, probably om order to provoke the outcome that occurred.

The IRA was a bloodthirsty lot, and they had little compunction in sacrificing innocents to achieve their aims.

Yes there is a video out there where you can clearly hear gun shots before the Army opened fire.

The IRA always used marches and riots to lure the security forces in to ambush them.

This is nothing but a witch hunt and appeasement to the Adams and McGuiness etc and to say screw you to those who have served from Britain which includes N Ireland,

The Boston Massacre, the Amritsar massacre...seems it is British Empire M.O. to fire into a protesting crowd.

I am kind of pro-British but we forget - thanks to those charming Beatles and British Rom-Coms how ruthless and scary the British empire was (and to be fare most empires were ruthless - even the French).

Ireland was a battleground exploited and funded at the top by the Soviets using international terrorist groups including the Marxist Palestinian Front, Libya and Arab states from the ME.

A Soviet propaganda campaign against British aggression in Ireland suddenly emerged led by the Prague based International Union of Students, and assorted World Federation groups.

The Troubles was a concept used to mask the terrorist activity whose intent was to destabilize a mostly peaceful society. Much like the CAIR backed Black Lives Matter and other Islamic connected terrorists are doing in the U.S. currently.

“And I am sure all IRA crimes of murder, torture (kneecapping and such), raping, robbery etc are all being victoriously pursued as well.”

They are - in that there have always been investigations.

That doesn’t mean there is evidence enough to win convictions or even to charge anyone: http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/sep/29/gerry-adams-will-not-face-trial-over-jean-mcconville

This event was different. Fourteen civilians - unarmed civilians - were shot dead in broad daylight in front of dozens of witnesses. There was no real criminal investigation for almost 40 years. The British army or government lied about what happened and even faked evidence to cover up the crime.

People have vacations. And the Brits are big on paperwork.

Wasn’t there some sort of reconciliation thing, moving on. . that sort of thing?

Innocents died from the terror bombings as well. . .both sides did some nasty things.

That crowd in the Boston Massacre was not a crowd of nonviolent ninnocents. There were at least 23 witnesses that asserted the crowd had intimidated and provoked the soldiers....one of the witnesses in defense of the British soldiers and officers was a Bostonian who had been wounded by them.

“Wasn’t there some sort of reconciliation thing, moving on. . that sort of thing?”

I suppose so but I don’t think that means a blanket amnesty was agreed to so crimes are still crimes.

“Innocents died from the terror bombings as well. . .both sides did some nasty things.”

Yes, but British soldiers have not gone to prison for their crimes - and some most definitely committed crimes: kidnapping, torture, and murder. Look at this incident and who died and how they died and tell me there wasn’t a problem:

The Peace Process has been a huge benefit to Ireland, and I do think it is time to move on. The recent attempt to prosecute Adams over a murder in the 1970s was also illjudged, IMO, and of course it failed, as there was not enough evidence for a court.

It is a great pity that some evil-doers will not be punished for their crimes, but they still have to live with their conscience, and so it is after every conflict and war.

That crowd in the Boston Massacre was not a crowd of nonviolent ninnocents.

I never used the word guilty. All I wrote was the British Empire has a habit of shooting into crowds. Once is an accident, but I can show of three cases where the British did that.
