This undated image was found on social media. Can anyone verify its authenticity? Seems as though the military academy at West Point at least USED the term "scholarship" in its advertising if not in their formal paperwork.

A little theory I have as to why the POLLUTICO clowns tried to lie about Ben?

Quinnipiac Poll shows Carson beating Hitlery by 10 points, way outside margin of error

The word went out among the Hitlery Cult: take out this black candidate. The Pantsuit has deemed him to be a threat.

One caveat: I do not know if this is a real ad or photoshopped nonsense. I just saw it and grabbed it.

Would love to know if it is accurate and not fake. :)

Ben mentioned yesterday that WP is still calling it a scholarship.

What you have is real

Some one sent Mark Lavin a couple of these ads from the era....and Mark was all over it.

Looks like original

Refer to Marks posting of the Friday show.

I don’t care about the West Point thing. Carson is just weird.

That’s really not the issue. Calling it a scholarship is not a problem. Saying you were offered one without actually applying is the issue. Especially with no paperwork or anyone else to corroborate. The changing, evolving statements don’t help either.

Ok.
Finally weighing in.

I think this a situation where Westmoreland says something like...

If you want to come to West Point let me know, i can make it happen.

There may have even been follow up calls from the staff of the general.

In the mind of an 18 yr old, that’s an offer. And while it was imfomal, in his mind he was legitimately offered the opportunity to attend.

Was he ever formally offered an appointment? Clearly not.

I would suggest the good Dr simply be more careful in his explanation and assertion he had an offer. Clarity is key in a situation where so much bureaucracy and formality.

Would love to know if it is accurate and not fake. :)

It comes from an advertisement in Black Enterprise Feb 92, page 153. West Point was marketing their program as a full government scholarship.

The Army Slogan: Be All You Can Be, was used from 1980-2001.

That is really not the issue.

Yes it is.

SoFloFreeper asked it what he saw was real.

I focused on the issue he raised and I provided additional evidence that it was real

I have a grand-nephew who is a super marksman with a rifle. He was winning skeet shoots and other contests when he was only 16 years old, When he was 19 he joined the US Army and eventually was sent to Afghanistan for the remainder of his service. He decided to not reenlist. However, he was offered a full scholarship to West Point if he stayed in the Army. He did not accept it as he was not interested in a military career.

If he was asked about a WP scholarship would there be a record of this offer? I doubt it. Still it happened to him.

Are you saying the late Westmoreland offered special treatment
to Carson, where every other applicant would have to go thru a rigorous
and exhausting process to enter West Point, except Carson?

FAQ on the West Point site, with interesting answer (in Carson's defense):

Are there admissions opportunities for minorities?

Admission to West Point is open to all students. There are no appointments, vacancies, or nominations designed exclusively for minority groups. However, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds are given appropriate consideration while evaluating all applicants. West Point makes a concerted effort to inform minorities of admissions opportunities, reaching many that might not otherwise apply for admission. Today, minorities represent about 15-20 percent of the Corps of Cadets.

Sure seems to me that if you are having dinner with General William Westmoreland and the General suggests that you are a natural for the Academy and he could get you a scholarship (or whatever you want to call it), you could bet the farm you will be a Cadet if you wanted.

This treatment of Carson is just another chapter from the treatment strategy of Clarence Thomas and Herman Cain

So Westmoreland, sitting at a table with Carson would give Carson
special treatment, where the rest of applicants who also wanted an
appointment to West Point had to fight to get an appointment.
Is that the type of man you believe Westmoreland was?

Here are Ben Carson's own words, not from Hillary or Politico or the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. Ben's own words from his Facebook posting three months ago:

-----------------------------------------
The next question is from Bill. He wanted to know if it was true that I was offered a slot at West Point after high school.

Bill, that is true. I was the highest student ROTC member in Detroit and was thrilled to get an offer from West Point.
------------------------------------------

So, it's true that he was offered a slot at West Point?
So, it's true that he got an offer from West Point?
Really?
