Think gay sex is wrong? Then you’re not right in the head, claim scientists
Lifesite ^ | 10/30/15 | Eric Metaxas

This summer, the Supreme Court narrowly redefined marriage and handed the gay-rights movement a major victory: full “equality” and recognition by the government. With that box checked, the gay-rights movement can now focus on its ultimate goal: silencing those who disagree.

One new and troubling strategy has emerged from the scientific community. Instead of vilifying those who believe in natural marriage, suggest some researchers, we should diagnose them.

It’s an ironic reversal. Years ago, homosexuality was listed in the American Psychiatric Association’s manual of disorders. But in 1986 it was removed, followed by a concerted push from Association members to normalize homosexual behavior.

In just thirty years, America went from a country where homosexuality was a diagnosable disorder to one where you can be fined for refusing to bake a gay “wedding” cake. Now things are going a step further. New research published in “The Journal of Sexual Medicine” suggests that homophobia, not homosexuality, is the psychological disorder.

“Live Science” reports that researchers at the University of Rome Tor Vergata asked 560 university students to report their feelings about homosexuality, then gave them a standard psychiatric evaluation.

Participants who exhibited what the researchers called “healthy attachment styles” tended to show less animosity toward homosexuals. They also showed more “mature coping mechanisms” in “scary or unpleasant situations,” and were generally less angry. But those who showed the highest animosity toward homosexuals exhibited a host of warning signs like inability to trust others, passive-aggressive behavior, and denial.

Lead researcher Emmanuele Jannini concluded, “After discussing for centuries if homosexuality is to be considered a disease, for the first time we demonstrated that the real disease to be cured is homophobia.”

Well, this was red meat for progressive websites and news outlets, who gladly trumpeted the results.

I can’t help but think of C. S. Lewis’ chilling and prophetic essay, “The Humanitarian Theory of Punishment.” Lewis believed that persecution in the future would look less like jack-booted thuggery, and more like therapy: “…certain schools of psychology already regard religion as a neurosis,” he wrote. “When this particular neurosis becomes inconvenient to the government, what is to hinder the government from proceeding to ‘cure’ it,” with mandatory re-education or other forms of treatment?

Jannini’s willingness to label homophobia as “the real disease to be cured” shows just how quickly we’re moving down this path. But we can respond: First, there are a lot of problems with how this study is being analyzed, even by its authors. For example, should it surprise us that those who show animosity toward people in general also show animosity toward gay people? Bad psychological traits probably don’t discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation.

Secondly, and more importantly, a “phobia” is “an irrational and debilitating fear” of something, and Christians don’t feel this way about those who identify as gay, or they certainly shouldn’t. Ours is a rational stance based on human flourishing and God’s created order, not “irrational animus.” It’s entirely possible to object to sin, refuse to dignify it, and still love those caught up in it. In fact, that’s what Jesus commanded us to do.

So no, we don’t need a checkup from the neck up for believing what Christians have always believed. And no matter how crazy it sounds to some folks, we have got to point out the true disease, and the only cure.

None of us should be surprised by this...

But let me see if I understand the fundamental premise of the argument here:

If:

Then, according to the psychiatric community, I am the one who is sick?

Alrighty then...I guess that tells me all I need to know about the psychiatric community.

But their premise is that your rejection of their theory of “anything gratifying is normal” is wrong. Homosexuality? Okay if it gratifies. Anything actually, except the gratification one might get from guns, or cigarettes, or conservatism.

Whether politicians or degenerates, it has always amazed me to what lengths they will go in order to justify their own depravity.

Bible prophecy coming true in real time. It’s going to get worse, much worse, before it gets better.

Basically these “scientists” look at exit signs and say they are wrong.
They take a square peg and insist it goes in any hole on the keyboard despite only one hole being designed for that peg.
In short, these “scientists” defy logic and reality.
Probably because they are light in the loafers and have an agenda.

Your #1 posting is right.

Headline is very misleading. Shrinks are not “scientists”.

Cultural Stalinism

Those who disagree with the State - who are always right - must be insane

Thus the committment of dissidents to mental hospitals in the Soviet Union

"Now, I think homosexuals are going to start demanding they lower remove the age of consent."

Fixed it for you. Thanks to a truly Satanic judicial fiat, anything goes.

But their premise is that your rejection of their theory of “anything gratifying is normal” is wrong. Homosexuality? Okay if it gratifies.

That premise is accepted by nearly everyone ... thus the almost universal *shrug* from those who don't personally feel like doing their business with someone of the same sex, right now, but will not have any standard other than "consent" applied to their own urges.

Understood. That is still reserved in their minds as acts or wants that gratify THEY choose and define. Like I said, guns, conservatism, and anti-abortion for example are all things not in their lexicon of acceptable gratification.

It really boils down to mass perversion if you ask me.

How did we get from A to B? By harassment, intimidation and litigation.

My toaster must be a demented, unlearned bigot. It only makes toast when I plug it into the wall outlet. When I try to join it with the plug of the blender nothing happens. I demand my rights for toast by this same plug method and approval by science.

Apple’s “Thimmy” Cook proudly proclaimed that homos are “God’s special people”.

These people are sick and pure demonic evil by attempting to re-write The Bible.

Amen to that. Jesus isn’t returning because things are going well. Amazing the thoughtful reaction you get to mentioning that even to folks who think they are believers but who tolerate where the world is headed.

I can remember when the old Soviet Union would use their psychiatrists to deem any inconvenient “citizens” as mentally ill.

Clamoring for more individual rights? Mental hospital.

Standing up to police state thuggery? Mental hospital.

Wow, we’ve really come a long way under Fredo Dogeater.

Already happening. ASFAR : Americans for a Society Free of Age Restrictions is actively lobbying for lowering age of consent.
GLSEN: Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network is infiltrating school districts to promote “adult allies for LGBT youth.”
Read a book called “Queering Elementary Education.” It’s the blueprint for gay indoctrination in the public schools.

Based on the FR sample, it seems like guns, conservatism, and even being anti-abortion are tolerable, as long as sexual morality is left off the table.

There is all sorts of discussion of the bad outcomes of sexual license, but very few want to address the cause.

Back in the 70s I had a lot of experience with psychologists in Gainesville Florida which town probably has the highest concentration of government offices and psychologists in the country. I found that they are subject to raging Fads more than any other profession and at leat as much as high school girls and watched the psychs there totally ruin the lives of a bunch of young women who were students at UF or the Community college there which itself is huge. The fad du jour was that any female who went to a psych- and most of the social sciences students were required to do sessions then as part of one course or another- was a repressed Lesbian and had to act it out positively in order to shed her neurosis. Several I knew got totally f***ed up because of that and two lost their marriages to very good men. One is still now afraid of men and women when in 1975 she had a fine marriage and a baby and a 3.6 average. Now she is an elderly cat lady with a houseful.

I became convinced then and nothing has changed my mind since that Psychology is a fraudulent science and psychologists are frauds. period. The only exceptions seem to be psychs who work in private as marketers and such and for them a good people sense is what they have and their psych degrees are irrelevant except for getting the job. I hear indignation and protest from Psychologists who are "Christian" or/and "conservative' but when I get to know them the only modification I make in my estimation of fraudulence is that some, a few, don't understand that they are frauds.

Who knows? All I really know is that deviation from traditional historical moral norms is perversion to me. And, the one thing I’ve seen with perversion in our society is that it always has to escalate to provide the same level of satisfaction.
