Beware of the pumpkins! Department of Energy blames Jack O'Lanterns for climate change

The scariest thing you will come across this Halloween is a Jack O'Lantern, because they are having a huge effect on climate change.

That's the message that has gone up on the Department of Energy's website this week, warning people to be wary of pumpkins on All Hallows Eve.

According to the agency, 'millions of pounds of pumpkins have turned from seasonal decorations to trash destined for landfills, adding to more than 254 million tons of municipal solid waste (MSW) produced in the United States every year'. The site says that the waste then decomposes into methane, 'a harmful greenhouse gas that plays a part in climate change, with more than 20 times the warming effect of carbon dioxide'

Not to worry.

Obola’s imported Mooslims will soon put an end to all silly US customs.

Convert or die, Dhimmis.

How many trees and electrons are wasted by redundant, overstaffed government agencies and their inane “findings?”

They could simplify things by putting out a one-sheet press release that says “We the government think anything that is fun, brings joy or honors tradition is really really bad for everyone and everything and will bring about untold awfulness and hit women and minorities the hardest”

The Left hates everything about Western traditions and culture.

Everything.

Jeebus these people are freaking out of their mind.

In a sane world, every liberal would be committed to an asylum.

Yes, when pumpkins decompose, they give off carbon.

And while they were growing, they absorb carbon.

If they’d not been grown, whatever grew in its place would have absorbed carbon while growing, and then given it off when it decomposed.

Despite all the hype about the rain forests, the bisphere - with two exceptions - doesn’t remove carbon from the atmosphere, it simply stores it for a while. Mature ecosystems release just as much carbon as they absorb.

The two exceptions? Ocean algae, which sinks to the deeps. And human logging, taking wood and sticking it into houses where it doesn’t rot.

This reminds me of an indoctrinated greenie high school kid telling me not to break my styrofoam cup because it released cfc’s into the atmosphere.

Can you say “insignificant”?

The next threat to be identified will be turkeys and, after that, real Christmas trees. Maybe artificial trees too, since they are probably made from some kind of petroleum derivative.

It’s not about the pumpkins. It’s about eliminating an American custom that they think is religious. Just part of the overall push to eliminate Christianity.

I give this country about 20 years, max, before the towelheads proclaim victory.

Rotting pumpkins make methane.

Methane eating bacteria go, nom nom nom.

Non issue.

Whether you (rhetorical you) think God or “Evolution” put the creatures here, the Source has generally proven competent to deal with nature’s issues.

Can’t have reminders of evil around can we. They might be too uncomplimentary.

Not just religious. Anything fun. Liberals are pathologically afraid that somewhere someone is having fun.

When they run things they quickly get rid of anything that brings joy.

Ain’t it funny that old fashioned moralists used to be accused of that, by the line of screaming meanies that now have become the new fashioned moralists.

Pretty soon they will realize that if, instead of discarding pumpkins and allowing them to rot, you ate them even more methane would be produced. Then if they patriotically kill us to shop our production of CO2 and methane, out rotting bodies would produce even more. It’s hopeless, there is no solution.
