Create you own definition of Socialism for fun and profit

Comrades, have you ever thought that the definition of our cherished base ideology of socialism (or whatever you want to call it : collectivism, Communism, democratic socialism, Fabianism, Fascism, Leninism, Marxism, Marxism;Leninism, socialism, statism, Trotskyism) is far too narrow to account for all the success in countries around the world where they aren't even socialist?

This is how the capitalist dictionaries (spit) define it:

Definition of socialism: a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. policy or practice based on the political and economic theory of socialism. (in Marxist theory) a transitional social state between the overthrow of capitalism and the realization of Communism.

Let's face it, comrades, when people hear of our esteemed ideology they think of mass murder on an industrial scale, Stasi smashing down doors in the middle of the night and hauling people away to the gulag, children informing on parents, parent informing on children, Chekists informing on fellow Chekists, waiting long queues to buy toilet paper, etc. but they never hear of the good side of socialism, the socialism with a smiley face.

But democratic socialism (or socialism democratic or social democrat or..) can be so much more.. so how do we sell socialism to the dumb masses who have forgotten the misery and mayhem of the USSR and National Socialist Germany?

How do we broadly define it so that anything positive that happens can be attributed to its good orifices? A prime example is this definition buried in the screed: 75 Ways Socialism Has Improved America

"Socialism is taxpayer funds being used collectively to benefit society as a whole, despite income, contribution, or ability."

See how easy it is - anything positive the government does is......you guessed it: Socialism!

Of course, the proviso 'benefit' ensures that anything bad that happens ISN'T Socialism - that can't be blamed on the free market or just freedom, so it's a win-win all the way!

Just define the word as meaning taxes or government and suddenly the whole world is Socialist!!

So get cracking people, how can we do better than the aforementioned definitions?
Prog Off
On a semi-serious note it's becoming apparent that today 'yutes' are being sold a load of BS that just about anything the government does is "Socialism"

You only need look at the aforementioned screed '75 Ways Socialism Has Improved America' (it's available in multiple locations, just use https://duckduckgo.com/ or https://ixquick.com/ ) and you'll see the ridiculous lengths the nation's socialists have gone to try and make that evil ideology as innocuous as possible.

Of course, it becomes laughably ridiculous when leftists try and claim socialist nation's aren't socialist when their definitions speak otherwise.

But who said the Left was logical?

Can anyone tell me were the leftist national socialists obtain their ridiculous definitions of Socialism?

I realize they like to use those grotesquely distorted definitions to try and claim success were it doesn't exist, but what is the source of this 'thinking'?

Is there some Commie Core lessons out there that define the organized evil of socialism in this manner?

Someone please try to explain this bizarre turn of events, your help would be greatly appreciated.

I still would like to hear a Democrat explain the difference between liberalism and socialism. If the question is ever asked, it is never answered.

I don't know how much help I can offer on your quest. The liberals love to set the terms of debate and like to redefine them at well. Socialism always sounds enticing on the surface because the definitions assume people will go along with the idea and work hard. This is not human nature and socialism bring out the worst in people. The best real warning and definition of socialism I have seen is found the in the Bible.

Proverbs 1: 10-15 “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:”

A group of people who band together and use force to take what they do not deserve from others. That's socialism in a nutshell.

I like this one I saw on a picture here on FR recently:

Socialism: You make it, they take it.

Socialism in concept was the goals of government being managing society with the force of government to produce good society of equal outcomes. From the first, there was no way to finance such a scheme. That is why Marx was under a time constraint for he and Engels to finish their economic system.

What happened was the economic system began to define socialism/communism as the original understanding was never approached.

Technically, socialism is government ownership of the means of production.

However, socialists got creative and decided they didn’t need to actually own the means of production (too much like work) and would settle for ‘controlling’ the means of production (through regulations) and seizing the profits from that productivity (through taxation).

So, for all intents and purposes, if the State is seizing some portion income or wealth of one group to transfer to another group that is not providing goods or services to State, or the group whose income is being seized, then you have socialism.

To understand what all Socialists movements have in common you have to understand what we call The Compulsion For Uniformity.

To understand the neurotic compulsion involved in promoting Socialist controls over free will, and the frantic efforts to substitute totalitarian dogma for personal responsibility, consider Compassion Or Compulsion?.

To understand the rationalizations employed to market socialist systems to the susceptible, see The Lies Of Socialism and Variations On Demonic Theme.

They’ve tried to make it sound even more ‘friendly’ defining almost anything the government does as socialism..

...form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity...

(general Welfare does NOT mean transfer payments, free healthcare, etc.)

A government's job is actually pretty simple. But, if it stays within its limits, politicians cannot buy votes or make themselves wealthy and bureaucrats cannot build their empires.

Which, in the end, explains everything.

Socialism is the system of public ownership that immorally seizes by force and against the will of the private owners, private property. Socialism also immorally seizes the means of production by seizing the land, regiments labor, substitutes taxation for savings as a means of capital formation and replaces the entrepreneur for the bureaucrat. The socialist State decides what the labor the individual should perform, where it should be done and how much should be earned. This allows individuals to be paid for not working.

Yes, and when it expands beyond it limits it’s like one of those radioactive monsters from a 1950’s horror film that grows and takes over civilization.

Ronald Reagan said it best:

“Man is not free unless government is limited”
&
“Concentrated power has always been the enemy of liberty”

economically,socialism de jure:

1) the government owns the means of production
2) and it is the government's responsibility to decide how they are to be used.
